Blood levels?

Last time I had a blood test (had a faint line on a Superdrug but later assumed that was a false positive) my HCG level was 5.3, the doctor classed this as a not pregnant result. Is this a normal amount of HCG if you're not pregnant? My doctor sent me for bloods yesterday (not pregnancy related) and decided to whip in a HCG test too even though I'm only 7dpo (I think). If my levels are under 5.3 can I assume I was actually pregnant last time? And if they're over 5.3 would that suggest an early pregnancy?

Under 5 is normal for not pregnant, this goes up to under 9 when you hit menopause, so it does climb a bit as you get older. The higher your natural level is the sooner you will see a result on a pregnancy test (but equally the really low detection tests such as the German brand that detects 5, won't be suitable as it will pick up some ladies natural levels). My natural level is close to 1 so takes an eternity to rise enough to detect.

It would be hard to tell if your level was due to early pregnancy or not at that level.
