I stopped bleeding around 2 and half week postpartum and then had yellow/white lochia for about a week and half after that.
My son is now 5 and a half weeks old and last night I got stomach cramps and red bleeding. Cramps have faded now but still bleeding.

I'm not BF, have FF from day 1, and baby isn't sleeping through...

I've heard periods only come back when baby sleeps through or when you stop BF.

Despite this, could this be the return of my period or return of lochia, though I haven't been over doing it so don't see why the bleeding could of restarted for that reason.

Sounds like AF has returned, normal to return from 5 weeks when bottle feeding, my last two pregnancies it returned dead on 5 weeks :( ....just waiting with this one lol...Harvey is 5 weeks tomorrow... x

Sounds like af. Sleeping through the night only makes a difference if you are BFing.

Funny enough, the same thing has happened to me! my little one is 5 weeks old today and i've had a fair bit of red blood the last 2 days, but no cramps etc, plus i'm combi feeding, so I don't know!, I wouldn't have thought it was my period, but now, you've got me thinking?!

Had your PP bleeding stopped already? If so it's quite likely to be af. BFing releases hormones that suppress ovulation but the hormones only last so long so if the gap between feeds gets too long because of baby sleeping through the night or giving bottles in between it can allow ovulation to happen. They say just going more than 6hrs between feeds once can be enough to start your cycles. Of course everyone is different and some women will start af easier than others. I read lots about BFing and fertility because I was TTC and BFing at the same time.

Thanks ladies. Wasn't expecting it so soon :-( miss being pregnant now x
