Just wondering if anyone on here had to get iron tablets and what were the symptoms? Im waiting on my blood results back this afternoon x

I had to get iron tablets. First I was put on ferrous sulphate and was so ill on them. Throwing up and with crippling indigestion pains, so I stopped taking them. Now I'm on ferrous fumarate and I can only take them every other day cuz they made me sick too.
But since taking them every other day, I feel fine. No constipation or anything, just black poop lol x

I'm on ferrous sulphate . Have been since about...28 weeks. I haven't had any problems with them. As Jayjay said, black poo.
I didn't realise how much I needed them til about 2 days after when I wasn't tired anymore and felt normal haha!

Got my blood taken yday,midwife said she thinks it sounds like i will need iron tablets..she said she would fone me 2day when they results came back,still not heard anything yet. I feel so tired n just want to sleep all the time plus hard to breath,sore heads n look really pale xx

Ahhh yeah. I felt constantly tired, breathless and had horrible headaches. You'll notice a difference as soon as you've been taking them for a day or two . If they don't ring you ring them! Haha! xx

Hmm defo sounds like i need them then. I foned the doctors but my results have been passed onto the midwife so il wait an hour or so and see if she fones me if not il give her a fone xx

I'm on iron too, I didn't realize I needed them as I'm always tired anyway but I had dizzy spells and nearly fainted twice!

I've been on them a week. I kept going dizzy, had chest pains, shortness of breath, pale skin and tiredness. Generally just felt like utter crap!! My poo is slowly changing to black I think... x

Uve just named the things that are wrong with me but the midwife never foned me so am thinking everything was fine? Tried to fone her but no answer!! x

I was told I'd have to wait 2 weeks for my results. I rang last friday as I was having chest pains and nearly passed out at work. The MW on the delivery suite looked for my results on the system and said I needed to go to GP for a prescription. God knows what I would have felt like if I had waited 2 weeks and had them done only 2 days before!! x

Yeah she said to me yday tht she would fone me 2day with results. They were in as i foned the docs to see if she could tell me but said the results had been passed to my midwife x

I thought I was doing okay, bit tired and pale and rubbishy but nothing too extreme, but I had blood taken last week and got a letter on Thursday saying I needed to pick up a prescription from the doctors.

Letter didn't even say what it was for but when I rang them yesterday morning the receptionist said it was for iron tablets; went and got it yesterday and started taking them last night, but I really hate the way the doctor just got them to send a letter and I didn't even get to talk to the doctor or midwife about it! Next appointment is on Thursday morning so I guess I can talk to her then.

I was in them Dr tried two different types but both made me sick. So he prescribed spatone sachets which I have to have 2-3 a day of. Iron has gone up at last blood test so they must be working x
