Ok ladies, who is / has used one? I've read nothing but good reviews so far, the only negative comments tend to be if complications arise that you have to get out.....

Are you planning to stay in for the whole birth, or just for the labour?

And, the bit I can't seem to work out for myself, what do you wear in it? Don't really want to be naked for all the world to see, but I'm not sure I'd feel much better in just a bikini top.... Do you think its ok to have a tankini set on, and just wip the bottoms off at the last minute?
Or does it even have to be swimwear? Anyone considered a long t-shirt? Or would that be uncomfortable and clingy once its wet?

Hey hun - i reeaally want to use one!! But im not sure wether id be able to, when i go in to be induced i might mention it, i think it will help me be a bit calmer with the blood, as when i got off the bed with my first i saw a puddle of blood..!! Which the midwife reasured me was normal- but still frightened the lift out of me!!

You can wear whatever you like though hun, but i think wearin bottoms might get quite annoyin when your in full blown labour and they want to keep checkin you and you have to keep takin your bottoms off. You could wear a long top or even a nightie?? Totally up to you, dont think the mw will mind x x

Oh i have all the same questions too hope someone can hekp x

my friend is a trainee nurse and has just done a stint on maternity... she said to wear what ever you are comfy in, bikini top, tankini or nothing, what ever you want,

im not sure if with a big t.shirt on tho if i will start to get a bit cold after a while and if it will annoy me,

im thinkin maybe a nursing bra and some pants to start with...

Hey! I'm really really hoping to be lucky enough to use one providing everything goes smoothly. I would like to actually give birth in it too, as I really enjoy baths and always have one when I'm in pain or ill etc so the thought is a really good one. I think I'd wear a bra in and nothing else to be honest. Really hope it works out so you can have one, I think it's a great idea! X

I used one to labour in and I wore nothing x honestly when you're in labour you don't care x I wish I'd given birth in the pool but I got out because the entinox made me sick x

I'm planning on using one and will just go with the flow to see if I want to give birth in it at the time - although at the moment I would like to. I was going to wear a big T-Shirt with a nursing sleep bra underneath then if I want to ditch the t-shirt I can.

Hi,

I would really recommend a water birth. I used the birthing pool when i was in labour with my son, i was in labour all day and used the pool for the last 3 hours before i gave birth.

I found the warm water really helped with the pain, and i felt very comfortable being able to move around freely. I also delivered him in the water which was incredible.

I just wore a tankini top and no bottoms in the pool, i found a long t.shirt just got in my way.

Thanks ladies. I'll be asking the mw a lot of these questions when I go for my tour, but its nice to know I'm not the only one thinking them!

Does anyone know how long you can stay in the pool? I mean, if the labour lasts all day, do they come and say 'you've been in the water for 6 hours now, you're going to have to get out for a while', or does it not matter if you turn into a wrinkly prune?

Oh my god, i didnt even think about what im gonna wear !!! I cant be naked cause my parents are gonna be around too, Damn.. I hate the feeling of being in a tshirt in water, my parents always made me wear one on holiday so i didnt burn lol

I am hoping for a water birth!! I think its going to be so relaxing and like many of you, I havent even thought about what I am going to wear!! I think I will think more about that once I know more about the giving birth itself. As this is my first, I am hoping my NCT classes will answer all the questions I have and then I can make a final decision. But being in a nice warm "bath" whilst giving birth does sound a lot better. Only thing is, as far as I am aware, gas and air is the only option of pain relief. How brave am I?! he he xx
