Is everyone doing a birthing plan? I know I did one last time but can't just remember how I set it out - has anyone found any useful templates? It's one of the last things I have left to do!

Embarrassingly, mine is just hand written on piece of pad paper! However, I'm not really a plan it out person. I've just put in what pain relief I want, how involved I want OH to be and whether I want a managed third stage.

There are loads of suggestions on the nhs website if you Google birth plan, but to be honest I have no idea how labour is going to affect me so how I'm supposed to suggest what position I want to be in is beyond me!

Oh mine was hand written on a piece of A4 last time - certainly nothing fancy!! I agree tho - there are some things you can't plan - your position on the bed being one of them!! :)

I've just written mine on paper too. The only thing I've put down that's a big thing for me is no epidural. I couldn't put no pethadine incase the pain gets the better of me but I've set it out as a water birth of possible, gas and air, not lying down for a long period of time and birthing ball use too. I understand I have to be cut if baby is stuck and the same with a section but I seriously hope I don't need that! Xxx

If you google 'nhs birth plan template' there will be links to an online template you can fill in and print out. :-) xx

That's exactly what I did. It's a well organised template x

I have a birth plan template in my pregnancy notes, i just completed that xx

I also have one in my notes, I just used it as a wish list really but obv im keeping in mind that things might not go how I want them to and that my wish list could be out the window! X

I had a lovely birth plan first time around - that all went wrong

So this time my notes say

Midwife led unit if available - water birth where possible
No pethidine
Vitamin K injection
Placenta managed by injection

That's it

Iv mine on a memo on my phone... just need to transfer it to paper lol. Forst pg i had an a4 page. This time iv done basic points.

Partner or mum to be birthing partner
Birthing pool if possible
Gas and air for pain relief
remifentanil if pain gets too much
Hope to avoid forcep delivery and epidural
Skin to skin after birth
Injection to help deliver placenta
Partner to cut cord

Thats all i can think of so far. But those are the main things that popped into my head xx
