its looking more likely that i will be having a section unless these 2 decide to be nice to me and turn from being transverse..

So i was just wondering how you coped after having a section with your wound being underneath your tummy and if anyone had any problems with it...I think this is my main worry from having to have a section as the cut will be under my tummy and wont get as much air as it would if i was slimmer.

Thanks in advance

I'm going to be a bigger mummy and I'm still really early in my pg but if I have to have a section for whatever reason I'm hoping I'll get a nice doc who'll do a quick tummy tuck while he's there to solve this problem... :rotfl:

On a serious not... I did wonder the same thing. I had a laproscapy a few years back now when I was slimmer and although the cut was a fraction of the size of a section cut I've still thought about what would have happened if I had been the size I am now, and how it would have healed.

Well I own a spare tyre  and had a section and I havent had any problems with my scar my doctor said its the best scar he's even seen :cheer: As long as you keep it clean and dry it will be fine

this may sound like the dumbest question ever...how would you keep it clean and dry?

how did u cope after having one? were u limited to what u could do?

Im petrifed!!!!!

The hospital will give you a dressing for it for a few days until it's started to heal. Then, I washed and carefully dried my wound every day and used salt water to help the healing. Once it's healed, you can use talc to keep it dry under there. If you lie down once a day and pull up your tummy and let the air get to the wound, that will help too. Don't worry, your body is amazing and will heal quickly as long as you take care to keep the wound clean. Lx

Its amazing how little care it needs just give it a gentle wash every night and pat dry. Whne your in bed you can let the air get to it. You will have to be super careful and accept all the help you can. TMI but your blood loss will tell you when to you have done to much. I thought I was fine then overdid it and had heavy blood loss for 2 days. Just be sensible and you wll be fine

i used the hairdryer on cool twice a day as advised by my midwife, i will be honest mine didnt heal properly until 6 months, the best thing i had was menapour plasters they are massive plasters from the doctor and the dry the wound up and u can shower with them on to stop the wound getting wet, but the hairdryer does work a treat

I'm a big mamma and i had a c-section with my son and have got a lovely little apron now which is rapidly fillin out again mind  anyways....

Get some big pants rather than little briefs as then the elastic won't rub on your scar.. i found these really useful many months afterwards for supporting the stomach muscles and it was a good few years before i cud tolerate slinky pants again

Like others have said.. just keep it all lovely n clean n dry - I used to pop a bit of sterile powder on my scar after havin a bath. The surgeon cuts into the natural crease of your belly anyway so the skin down there is used to bein shaded by cuddliness (in a sense) but like others have said - let the air get to it as much as possible too.

All the best and hope ya babies turn hun xxx

I aired mine as much as possible and once a few weeks had passed I used talc which sorted it right out. If you can lay down for 5 mins a day to air it, it will help it loads! Also patting it dry with a towel gently after a shower is also good.

I am a big mummy and i had a emergency c sec if i ca give one bit of advice it would be to rest as much as possible as i didnt and my cut got infected and took 4 months to completly heal and i had to get my OH to dress it for me, when i had a bath i found if you use a hairdryer on cool setting it drys the wound great and you dont have to touch it i the put a bit of talc on it to try and keep in dry.

mine was fine,

as others have said, big knickers so it doesnt irritate the wound and keep it clean and dry.

my m/w suggested using a clean sanitary pad to offer some protection if you dont have big knickers.

you shouldnt have a problem

Thanks for all your replys girls!

big pants by that do u mean sloggi type pants?
