I changed my name by deed poll last monday and have just rung the child benefit centre to inform them. They already know!

I'm impressed (and scared!) Hospital took me 4 times of telling them to change my address

They said sometimes they are informed via solicitors, dont think so. Maybe when you have a deed it goes into some kind of database. Still has saved me the hassle of posting off a copy

I beileve it all goes into a database which is then distributed to such companies when such a change is made
