We got infant gavison yesterday, cos I think G has a touch of reflux, not all the time though.

But it seems like its gonna be really awkward. It comes in sachets.

So either have to express and add it to bottles - not keen to express for every feed. So mix it up with either Ben or water and give it after a feed, but she quite often falls asleep on the boob, especially at night.

Anyone else using this, what did you find easiest??

Hi, sorry you're suffering with this too, we've also been using infant gaviscon for just over a week. The doc said it can be given throughout a feed but they usually say to give at the end so it doesn't mean they don't take their milk. I don't know about your LO but there is nothing that would stop Isaac taking his milk so I've been giving a bit before & some during feed & then a bit at the end if he's awake but if not I sometimes finish it when he wakes! I mix it with cooled boiled water. I found the dosage seems quite a lot, I sterilize a 5ml syringe & each dose is 3 of those so it's really hard to get him to take 3 all at once & when I gave him 3 after a feed he just vomited it all back up. Giving it in bits has been the best way for us.
I found it works a bit, but didnt completely cure him as i was hoping! He does vomit less I think & he seems to burp more but his reflux is still a problem. Last night he had gaviscon at bedtime but still seemed so uncomfortable all night & was vomiting & I could hear the acid coming up & going down constantly while he was trying to sleep so he kept waking & a couple of times his vomit was bright yellow which I think is due to stomach acid, that worried me a bit so I took him back to doc this morn & was given Zantac to try so he's just had first dose of that. Doc did seem to treat me like an over anxious parent today as he's putting on weight & otherwise well but she hasn't been up all night listening to him!
I hope you have some success with the IG but would be interested to see how you get on x

We've only done two rounds of it, and DH has made it up, dunno why though - it only took 2 syringes which was odd.

G only has mild reflux, she doesn't tend to vomit a lot, but is def more unsettled at night.

We've been using infacol as well, but dunno if we really need both?

I dont BF but my LO is on Gaviscon too & other reflux meds. Beware of constipation, my LO had it very bad for around a day when we 1st started, loads of water did the trick.

Sorry you have to deal with reflux its very complex & time consuming.

Good luck

I dont think she likes the gaviscon tbh - shes making horrible looking faces and spitting most of it back at me. xxx
