Today has been the crappiest day ever. Woke up full of cold but thought the weather is lovely it's going to be positive day! Little did I know an hour later a letter arrives through my door addressed to my sister in law who we don't speak to. I thought oh great what's this. She's run up £450 worth of debt and put her name at our address!!! Have spent most of the day phoning around people to get it sorted. Phoned the debt people who sent the letter and they said we wouldn't have to pay it as she wasn't at our address and they would find her. She's moved from her last known address so couldn't tell them where she was. My hubby Chris phoned his mum who we also doesn't speak to for many reasons and they told him they didn't know where she was (pure crap) and they weren't getting involved and put the phone down on him. What a lovely mother aye! So I phoned the debt people back and have given them her mum's address and her last known address as it was council and she's moved to a new council place so they can trace her. Hope they find the bitch now and do her for fraud! Can't believe she has done this, I knew she was an evil cow but I didn't think she would go this far! I really don't need this at the moment it's making me ill! In laws aye! I get the bloody worst ones I could find! Luckily my hubby is so wonderful or I'd be well out! Grrr!

My in laws are from hell I'm not kidding! I've moaned about them before because they are seriously evil! I just don't know what to do. It's not even my house, we're living with my mum while we try to part buy and she's not pleased as you can imagine. I think we're on thin ice now with her as she don't need all of this on her doorstep and she could kick us out at any moment. I want to kill my sil but I'm above that and will let what she's got coming to her through the debt people happen. At the end of the day my hubby's mum won't want the trouble either so she'll soon hand over her address and phone number. I just feel like crying!

It sounds like they are all very irresponsible and selfish, let them get on with it. Youve done all you can to resolve the matter and clear the debt from your address, if you get anymore letters though you should contact the CAB and find out if you can have her charged with anything?

Urgh that sucks hun, we had something similar happen to us a while ago. Its awful when your own family can do that to you. If you get anything else involve the police too, she needs to learn you cant do that stuff to people and get away with it.

We were going to go to the police but the debt people have said they'll handle it all so I don't know if they will involve the police or not yet. We're going to a our bank tomorrow to credit check the address and our name to make sure she hasn't done anything else and we're also going to check she hasn't done anything through our account as Chris' bank stuff used to go through her address a few years ago and the letter said they have taken over the debt from Natwest retail. Not sure what natwest retail is, anyone know?

i'd go to the police for sure hon, shes committed fraud, even if they dont pursue it, hopefully they'll put the frightners on her...plus it will please your mum no end!!

I work in rent arrears collection and work closely with debt collection agences and i know they are very good at tracking people down, its how they make their money! Hopefully it wont be too long before they find her. i would definately get the police involved, even if they dont charge her she wont do it again. best of luck
