Had a spending spree recently and got lots of things for the babies. Just the sterilisers and few bits to get now! Are electric or microwave ones better? i will need 2 as it will be a bottle factory with twins! any suggestions??

We have limited space so we got an avent microwave one, so we can keep it in the microwave :)

I got tommy tippee electrical one purely cos it was on special offer lol x

Just check the microwave ones for size... Saw a post on here a while ago where people had brought them and didn't fit in the microwave!

Bought the Philips Avent microwave one today - too cheap to miss, and got great reviews. Hopefully it'll be good!

We bought tommie tippee electric one but only because the set was half price. No idea what it's like as won't be using it yet!

We've bought an avent electric one. Was on offer and also our microwave is fairly small so didn't want to run the risk of getting a microwave one that doesn't fit.xx

I have micowave Avent one and it works well. Didnt want to clutter the kitchen and you can keep it in the microwave when not in use. Its 4+2 mins in the microwave

Me too I have this xx

I picked up a microwave steriliser off my SIL today who was having a clear out. Just realised it is now 15 years old!!! But has been kept immaculate and looks exactly like the same model that they sell now online. Do you think it'll be okay to use??

I'm sure t will be fine Hun xxx

I got the medela one coz they were doing a good deal at the baby show. Think the phillips advent one and the tommy tippee one (both electric) are the best tho!!
xxxx

Can I ask a stupid question about microwave sterilizers? Do you put anything in it other than water like steilizing solution or anything??

I have the Avent microwave one too. I will say keep the receipt though and try it in your microwave cos I have heard a few people say it doesnt fit in their microwave. Luckily it does fit in mine.
I have heard that the microwave one doesn't take as long to steralize as the electric one.
xx

are they all as quick as eachother? Or any brands to avoid? x

I would say definitely avoid the tommee tippee electric. We got one and were using it for three weeks after Poppy was born only to discover it hadn't been working at all during those three weeks! I was FUMING and felt so guilty. Thankfully she was ok, but after doing some research online I found out it's a very common problem with these sterilisers (check out the reviews - they're terrible! http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews248917.html)

We now have the microwave one. At least we know it works because you're controlling the amount of time it goes in for etc (which if you're interested, goes in the microwave on full power for 8 minutes :))
