Hello ladies,
This I all new to me and I'm not sure when or how I can start to claim benefits. I am currently working but taking my voluntary redundancy as we have a restructure with staffing. I am just wondering what I would be entitled to. As this is my first time and I'm very worried about my job and housing and benefits. Please someone guide me. Xx

As a benefit assessor. You would need to make a claim for universal credit. However they may use your redundancy payout as an income and so you may not be entitled straight away.

My reduanacy isn't alot 1775 I think and when do I start making the claims ? X

Usually you have to make them the day of your last job. But I don’t actually work in universal credit so you maybe able to start it earlier.

They will use you redundancy pay out and ‘expect you to use that to live on plus any saving’ so they may not start your benefits untill after. So they for example would say that that’s a month wages and delay your benefits by a month. Also there is a 6/8 week delay on receiving universal credit as it is paid monthly in arrears.
