I had really bad separation of my stomach muscles with my 1st and although hugely improved before this pregnancy they were still 2 finger-widths apart. As predicted I have expanded in the belly area really quickly this time due to the muscles giving up on me already but most upsettingly my belly button is already sticking out! I hate it and it's making me really self conscious. it's ok when I wear trousers with a bump band but otherwise it really sticks out.... any suggestions of how to conceal it? I tried plasters last time but ended up getting blisters where the sticky part was (partly allergic to Mepore).

I know it sounds petty but I really do dislike it :(

Hi Holly,

I can completely sympathise. I had bad separation too as I had a 10lb12 baby so had a massive bump. I too have expanded very quickly this pregnancy and my belly button is close to popping out but not quite yet. I'm 14 weeks today. I personally didn't mind it sticking out first time round, I kind of just thought it was normal and part and parcel of being pregnant but it didn't stick out until I was a lot further on in the pregnancy- maybe 6 months. By then I was wearing an industrial style tummy band thing that I was prescribed by the NHS physio as my bump was so big and affecting my hips, so it concealed the belly button. I'm afraid I dont really have any suggestions, other than bump bands. It looks like there are belly button covers available online but not sure if you can get them in this country, might be worth a look xx

Thanks hun. I agree; it's happened so early this time that it is making me really self conscious. My friend even stroked my bump and said 'oh, your belly button is sticking out' sob sob! I will look for the covers... the things we do haha x
