Got an odd question, I have my belly button pierced and was wondering if you have to take it out while pregnant?
Also does the hole heal up and if so how long does it take?
Just want to prepare for BFP whenever that might happen, any advise would we appreciated.

Thanks girls

I had my navel pierced and had to take it out as it tends to scar due to expanding belly around tight piercing. Mine didn't heal and I returned to a piercest and he used a hook to properly open it back up for free. It sounds gross but it wasn't!

Oh and hope you got your bfp! Baby dust!!!

I took mine out, but did end up with 2 scars going upwards from the top hole.. My piercing has stretched  It's a lot wider but have my bar back in and is fine, scars are also lightening too.. You can get bars for pregnancy but I chose just to take mine out.. I poked mine through once every few months to make sure it stayed open as my sisters closed over..

A website for those bars.. Good luck for your BFP :dust: xo

I took mine out pretty much as soon as i found out to give it chance to heal as i didn't want a massive scar and so far its looking good it hasnt moved at all :) x

I wore a pregnancy bar throughout my 1st pregnancy. But even that got to uncomfy in the end wiv the huuuge bump i had so i took it out for the last 4 weeks and never really thought about putting it back in for ages and it closed up only a tiny bit in the bottom part of the piercing. Finally put it back in just a few months back after having to repierce it a bit myself. Looks fine and no scarring for me. Good luck for a bfp very soon.

Thanks for bringing it up Buggy82. I had wondered about it, but until I get my :bfp:, here's hoping, I sort of put it to the back of my mind.

Thought I'd offer my advice :)
Been working in the piercing industry since I was 17 :D

Everything depends on how long you've been pierced and also whether your piercing will become sesitive during your pregnancy. If you think you'd like to wear your jewellery again after the baby's born, I'd recommend finding a good quality PTFE bar to wear throughout the majority of your pregnancy. If you think you're not too fussed then just pop it out whenever :)
Although, if it's a fairly new piercing I would advise taking it out when you get your BFP as the stretchig might cause it to be rather paiful. Hope that helps. I've had mie in and out since I had Eva and it's always stayed opened but I did get it done when I was 11

I took mine out when I had my little boy 5 years ago and its still open but i also had mine done at about 13. I didnt put it back in tho as i have terrible strech marks on my belly so i hide it now lol but lots of my friends took theres out and they went back in fine xxxx

Hi Buggy

I kept my bar in until I was 5 months pregnant and eventually decided to take it out although you can buy the rubber bars from ebay that stretch with your skin. I put my bar back in about 3 months after i gave birth and it was fine, just had to pop the skin alittle (tmi). But i would definately say that you dont neccessarily have to take a piercing out because you get your BFP.

i had to take mine out, one of my first symptoms was that it got really itchy and uncomfortable! it has healed over, but i think i had some crazy skin growing things goin on when i was pregnant, my ears closed over in a matter of weeks and i've had them done 10 years!! and i've gone years without wearing them before and they never closed over!!

i had mine in the when i went for my first scan the sonographer was dragging the ultrasound thing over it and s i said shall i take it out and he said " yes and id advise not to put it back in till after the pregnancy" i was going to put it back in when i got home but i forgot and now i cant find it lol but with my daughter i kept it in till i had a big bump x
