Hiya girlies havent posted in a while as we have moved house and it has been hectic! Well now we are in our own house Ellie is in her own bedroom and its going well she started going to bed between 9-11 till 6-7 in the morning and i was very pleased with this.Well friday and saturday night she was waking up at 3am settled her but an hour later she was awake again. Last night (sunday) she went to sleep about 8.30am and slept till 8 this morning and i had to wake her up. I just dont understand why she will sleep through some nights and not others but yesterday she was feeding lots could that be why she slept right the way through? Is it just a case of letting her get into her own routine? Any help would be apprecciated thanks Grace and Elliexx

Hi Grace I let Leorah get into her own routine and it really worked for us. She now goes to bed at 7pm and wakes up for a feed anywhere between 5am and 7am and this really depends on how much she's eaten the day before. If we are out and about she often finds she's too busy too eat!! When we have a day based at home she eats better and sleeps for longer. Do you cluster feed coming up to bedtime? This really helps :)

yes just before bedtime i cluster feed but some days she really isnt interested. yesterday we were at home all day just popped out for an hour and she slept right through i had never thought about it before but the days when we are out alot are the days when she is unsettled at nights. thanks hopefully she will sleep right through once she has sorted out her routine. does leorah nap during the day if yes are they regular the same time everyday? thanks grace

We didn't start a routine until Jake was about 12 weeks. When we didn't have a routine for the first 8 weeks he was terrible at night and wouldn't go down until about 2-3 in the morning and then still without a routine he just started going down on his own at about 11-11.30 and sleeping through until about 8am. I thought this was good but then I started a small routine of giving Jake a bath every night at about 6ish and then putting his nightwear on him. Ever since I have been doing this Jake has started going down at about 10pm and sleeping through untill about 8am which is a lot better. I would suggest starting a bedtime routine as I do think it helps your child realise the difference between night and day but just remember it may take about a week or so to start working.

Its hard to say at the moment whether Leorah is having regular naps as we have just been a way and then she had a very bad cold that's she's just getting over. She basically stays awake about 2 hours in the morning before going for her longest nap, usually about 1½ hours and then has a couple of short naps in the afternoon but the last couple of days she's been ready for a nap within 2 hours all day virtually but maybe she's catching up after some restless nights. I don't want to rigid a schedule because we like to get out and about so she naps in her pushchair and so will slweep wherever we are although as I mentioned before she likes to be in the thick of it so will generally skip naps and meals if there are better things to be involved with!

Was it only a couple of nights she's been unsettled? It could be a growth spurt?

Yes just saturday and friday night she was unsettled. She slept for 12hrs lat nyt but has now been asleep literally all day just waking up for her feeds last feed at 5 still awake just hope she stays awake til bedtime otherwise i think im going to have a bad night

Definitely sounds like a growth spurt, they tend to sleep a lot after having one. I hope you have a good night

Thanks skatty. Well she went to sleep at about 9.30 and slept till 6 so it was ok thanks for all your advice
