I'm new over here

Never thought I'd be here but then I guess none of us did!

Been to the GP this morning who has diagnosed me with irregular Ovulation. I've been off the pill since Dec '10. I'm having a few blood tests done this afternoon and will see GP again next week.
When she will refer me to a fertility clinic

She said I will need something to help me Ovulate (whatever that may be?)

Anyway I'm just pleased I've been and got seen to.

Charlie. x

Best to get the ball rolling hunny, it might be something solved very easily  xxxxxxx

Hiya Charlie

Sorry that you seem to have some issues, but better getting it fixed eh?

Plus irregular OV isn't as bad as no OV :)

I think if you're a larger lady that they might tell you to lose some weight as ovulation can be diet related but they'll probably give you clomid.

I heard of Tamoxifen and Metformin being used too but don't know what the differences are.

Thanks Louise :)

I was thinking about the weight too, I'm not overweight but on the higher end of 'normal bmi'. A couple of weeks healthy eating and some extra exercise should do the trick to bring it down some more.

Your right about irregular being better than no Ovulation. Its a new problem for me, I never had any problem last time.
I dont know the difference in the medications either, guess I'll have a google later :) x

I'm on the higher end of the BMI range too, actually i think i'm medically obese

Oh no, just checked, i'm just overweight - phew :)

I wouldn't worry about your weight then as long as you haven't suddenly put on a load of weight to get to where you are.

It's mainly blood sugar related i think, so just minimise white carb intake unless it is with a good dollop of protein and veg.

I've been around this weight for a few years now, actually I dont think I'm much heavier than before I had AJ.

Good to know it shouldnt be too much of a problem.

Thank you for all of the advice, I'm taking it all in and onboard :) There is a lot to think about and look up. x

Sorry you found yourself in ltttc, but we are a nice bunch to be stuck with

If your not ovulating regularly then I would guess that you will be given clomid to help kick start your ovaries, the success rates on it are very good x

Thank you all, you've made me feel very welcome and given lots of fab information :)

Hope everyone is ok x

Hi Charliebear,

In the same boat as you. LouiseB mentioned Metformin. I am on that. Into my second month now. It has taken my cycle which was bouncing around 50-90 days down to 40 ish and now to 31ish. I personally call it the Devil Pill with some of the cramps it has but it works to control blood sugars (actually a diabetic drug but my hormone consultant has belief in it for those with Polysistic Ovaries)

Most importantly, although no BFP yet, it has worked with cycles so its a step in right direction.

Good luck x

Your cycles sound promising, at least they are getting shorter. Are you Ovulating too?
My Dad is on Metformin, for his Diabetes.
I hope you get your BFP very soon. Lots of luck hun. x
