I was reading an article the other day, I think it was in the Sun, about people bathing their babies too much? Apparently if you bath them every day they're more likely to get skin problems like eczema because it dries out the skin. It's best to give a bath two or three times a week and top & tail when necessary in between.

Just wondering what others do?

When Arianna was little I used to do it every 2nd day but now she is eating I have to bath her every night, especially when she sometimes rubs her food in her hair!

Thea gets two baths a day lol. She has one on a morning with me and then one at night before bed as part of her bedtime routine. I dont use soap on her at night though its more just a splash and play in the water to help her wind down.

Daddy gives Debs her bath before I feed her and then it's off to bed. I saw the thing about drying the skin out on the news but we don't use soap or anything. If anything water tends to rehydrate the skin (surprise....) it's the soaps that dry it.

I was doing baths daily until my midwife and health visitor pointed out it needs to be done twice a week.

The reason being it affects their skin, I was told top and tail daily, bath twice a week and avoid skin products such as Johnsons as it dries out baby skin, and to stick to natural products such as olive oil as it is easily absorbed into the skin.

I have to say ladies since stopping the daily bathing and using o oil Sams skin is so less dry and sore looking.I think they're actually right! :D

Dylan baths every 3 days..I just use plain water aswell...he does love it though

Brody gets a bath 2-3 times a week as I have really bad eczema and Brody's skin gets really dry if we bath him too much!

I'm hoping so much he doesn't have my eczema!

I bath Jake every other day unless he needs another bath if he gets mucky or something. When he was tiny I bathed him everynight but more to settle him than anything else.

ive only ever bathed my baies once a week when they are babies. they don't get dirty so why bother -

i bath them when they get older but never every night.

i bath the kids every night with out fail - some times if we have been out all night i will put them in the bath at 11pm if OH had it his way he would only bath them once a week lol but they sit in dirty nappies all day.

once my mum said to me imagine being on your period with a sanitary towel on all day then just washing over with water then going to bed!!!
a bit ott  but i get her point
i use tesco's top to toe wash and do their hair and body every night

but i would never go to bed with out a bath so i don't expect the kids to

if you top and tail well then theres no need to bathe them :)

but sometimes there can be dried milk and sick stunk under the neck Harley was very chubby and would get all smelly under his arm pits and in the creases on his legs i would have been there all day top and tail

i top and tail in the mornings

yeah i remeber that dionee with harley.

i don't bath every day never have done. But if i did can u imagine how long it would take me at night! :rotfl: i have too many other things to do like reading with the older girls and homework etc.

when i do have to bath rachael i generally just stick her in the sink and out again ASAP!

i bath emily once a week but top and tail her when she needs it
she doesnt get dirty! only with milk!

i dont want to give her excema because i have it and its horrible :(

When Josh was a baby I could only bathe him once a week for the first 3 months as he had strapping on his legs and feet and we had to soak it off - on a tuesday night - I can even remember the night  The rest of the time we couldn't get it wet.
Then after his op he had plaster on and we couldn't bathe him for 6 weeks. Guess which week he decided to get raging diarrhoea.... And we used cloth nappies but he always smelt clean and fresh with just top and tailing.

I just washed and wiped him down. Wasn't until he was feeding himself and toddling that he really needed bathing everyday. Even then I only tended to use baby shampoo for his hair and his body just got clean in the water.
