noa is nearly 16 weeks (wow its goin so quick!) n lately i have started to give him little banana almost every day as a treat. he LOVES it n get all excited.
i dont mash it up i, i keep it whole n just soften it at the end and then i let him suck on it n he nible little bits of n swallow straight away. today he had half of one, normally he have a third maybe.

is this too early? and am i crazy that i dont mash it up? i hold it right where his moth is so he cant get too much in his mouth.. just that he looks so intrested when we eat so i just tried a little banana with him n he really loves it!

I thought you were supposed to wait until 17 weeks, but if he is digesting it fine then you should be ok, only a week to go anyway. I give Zac finger foods, and make sure I keep an eye on him in case he chokes. X

i didnt know, i have given it for about a week and it has been no problem. But now i might wait until he is 17 weeks then until i give him again..

If he hasn't had any problems hun I think he would be fine :) I'm sure he loves it! A week isn't much to worry about :flower:

Tegan REALLY wants food she's started screaming the whole time i eat the pediatrician doesn't want me to wean until we go back in march. If Noas ok with it Hun then it'll be fine Im sure x

I didn't listen to my HV  she TOLD me not to give Odhran anything until 6 months, I gave odhran a little bit of baby rice at 4 months, and at about 4 and a half gave him a cow and gate fruit pot everyday at his lunchtime bottle.. I would always watch his nappies and form to make sure he took to it ok.. And he has been a little greedy guts ever since

Yes I agree, if he has had no problems in a week, he must be fine. I love giving Zac new foods and watching him learn to eat, it's great isn't it? X

i love the way he gets so excited! he grabs my hand and try n shove the whole banana in n screams when i dont give him more!
he poo n wee normally. i wouldnt tell the hv tho... im thinking of givin him fruit pots at 4 months.. just a little treat after his feed...

I think if he is showing excitement, then go for it. Maybe something other than banana everyday though as it can make them extremely constipated. X

Yes the fruitpots are fab, zac loves the apple n peach ones x

I gave charley banana at 12 weeks! I know it was early but he's fine! He loves his food, mum even gave him bread to suck on earlier and he loved it!

i dont think a week will make a difference! my lo is one 3 or 2 mini meals a day...banana proddige at breakfast and then fruit or veg puree at lunch or dinner and he LOVES it...my hv wasnt too impressed tho! but your his mum and you have to go with ur instinct!!! xx

i weaned mad early, i agree bout maybe not banana every day as a weaning food but becausssee its sooo full of flavour he mightnt take plainer foods? i found this with madison, spice it up a lil, maybe natural yoghurt/ baby rice/ pureed fruit or veg.... its soo good hes interested and tbh if the banana has done him no diff in a week hes fine and by sounds of it IMO he sounds ready haha xx

i only want to treat him, not give him "instead" iykwim.. no banana tomorrow then! see if i give something else.. i dont want him to be too used to it just yet as i want to keep BF for anoter 3 month.. only little treats..

haha isobel wonder will he have other ideas ! lol wee monkey!! :D do you know what age the other BF mums on here gave their bubs wee bits and were they able to carry on mostly BF? cos might be a good way to top him up but still 90% BF??? xx
