Dont let em bug ya, Squig. I know EXACTLY what you mean It doesnt really matter what you do, where babies are concerned everyone feels the need to comment. I still carry Ani in her Kari me, and get comments - especially because LO does not like wearing shoes or socks, so she doesnt. As a result people are forever saying "ooh wont her feet get cold with them sticking out like that"
And no, in Spain sarcasm does not work where kids are concerned. The spanish have no sense of humour when talking about children. Weird
By the way, I am envious, that sling and hat set are GORG. I could never do anything like that - I am pretty useless with a needle. Clever you!

It looks really good - I love the matching hat! My mei tai arrived this morning so I'm going to try it out later and prepare myself for some stares. Do you have any tips for feeding in it? Would it work with bigger boobs? If I put his mouth at boob level with him upright he'd end up hanging down by my crotch

I have quite small boobs... but I find that If I adjust the straps and drop her down I have just pull my top down.. and tilt her head to the side and she can latch on... shes really noisy though because her latch isn't perfect. ... If that makes sense...

Well this is my mei tai (rare photos of my ugliness get it while you can as I'll be removing them soon.)... I made a matching sun hat... lil miss loves it... we went around the market today with it...and she was no problem... She got really thirsty (it was scorching today ) and I had forgotten to pack some apple juice for her... but realised that its dead simple to bf'd her in it... She had a little drink and then came off to have a look around..

I really like it, I can't believe you made the hat as well, my goodness I can hardly sew on a button how could anyone think she was uncomfortable in that....look at her go!

I wish I could sew for a living, but I think there would be some serious arguments with my sewing machine... I could knock up a sling in a couple of hours, but the sewing machine likes to toy with me

as for learning... sewing is honestly just a matter of practice... you always mess up your first... so expect to do things wrong... Bias tape is the cheat for seams and the internet is a vast and invaluable source of tips to get things right
