i love it and put lots on both my babies when they get out of the bath, its great to keep them dry more so in this heat smells great to and stops under harleys nexk getting all sweaty. and under his armpits as they get red and sore

but some one told me that talc can cause cancer on lil girls if it goes between in their fairy????

ohhh i love talc nothing better then when they are all fresh after a bvath with talc on and a fresh baby grow , please dont say talc is bad?

Yes this what the HV said, and also it is bad becuase they can inhale it and get it in their lungs. Iv never used it, I only make a mess everywhere with it anyway!

lol yh it is messy but i put lots on myself to lol.

i always put it on my hand then rub it on them rather then just tip it on them as it does go in their face.

so you heard about the cancer thing too???? is it only for lil girls?

I have never heard the cancer thing!! I heard it was bad for the babies to breath in!!

Didnt they only use talc when we was little???? I never got cancer!! xxx

not everyone who uses it will develop cancer but it can increase the risk, like smoking

I've never used it on any of my babies... known about risks back than! Dionne, I know what you mean about them smelling gorgeous, but wait til you smell their own smell.... doubley gorgeous. :D

Everyone always comment on how nice Oscar smells, but I don't use anything on him.... olive oil & camomile occassionally.

Emilia xx

I've never used it, I don't think babies need anything on their skin unless they have a skin complaint. I think it dries skin out too much. I know a few people who do use it, but I won't use body products on Damien except shampoo and a touch of baby bath. I'm scared of him inhaling it too :(

only use oilatum in bath ande45 on liam

on joshua it was baby bath then the baby oil with a yellow li

kieran had something like candle wax inthe bath, followed by aqueous cream and when he got to 2 i used coca butter, he smelt great

I've never heard it being linked to cancer but I do know it's dangerous for them to inhale. I usually sprinkle it into Ava's diaper first(away from her) and then put it on. Have any of you seen the liquid baby powder? It dries to a powder, maybe that would be better. I'm not sure of the ingredients though.

I used talc on Lydia for the first couple of months....and then I heard about the cancer thing (and about how it's bad for the lungs) so I just totally stopped using it.

(I still use it on my hair though when my hair is looking greasy and I don't have time to wash it :shhh: )

Okay I just took a look at Ava's and hers is Johnson's pure cornstarch and apparently that's the safer alternative so I think we're okay!

one of the links I posted says cornstarch is ok as the body can break it down

p.s. its good to see you back on the forum :D

i read on beanies l.ink it cant have talc in the ingredients? i use johnsons baby powder and that does have talc in it?????

where did you get that one from ava?

i like hareys skin to be dry as he usualy gets so sticky and sweaty.

kayl... thats what i do with dior but its ment to be a big no no to put it near their fairy???

i was always told not to use it becasue it was linked to breathing problems :? The dust or something i suppose.

I know Beanie  xx

From what I've read Talc is very similar to Asbestos.

dionne, We probably bought Ava's at Walmart here in the states so maybe you can try ASDA. I just looked online at ASDA for you and found:

Johnson's Baby powder - lavender and camomile and it is a pure cornstarch formula. I think it's a tad more expensive than Talc.

cheers babe. as i didnt want to up using powder so il get that one then

its pretty bad then that the normal johnsons powder has talc in it then

I know, you would have thought they would have made everything with the corn starch.

Sorry Keely it was just from your last post I thought you misunderstood me that I said if you use talc you get ovarian cancer. My mistake
