Does anyone use one of these? I've bought one, and this might sound a stupid question considering it is called a sleeping bag lol but, can they sleep in it?

The reason I am asking this is because I don't know if it restricts the movement at night or if it is safe because you have to put the baby's feet to the end of the bed (and the sleeping bag is a lot longer than the baby)..

I couldn't be without my Grobags!
Tom sleeps in them every night.
When he was little we swaddled him but when he was about 4/5 months, we moved him in to a grobag and I think they're brilliant. You don't need to worry about covers slipping off and you don't need to worry about them being too hot or too cold. They're very safe too.
I would really recommend!

I've got one and I think it's great! They can sleep in them but some of them advise not to use them on newborns or if baby is under a certain weight.

It doesn't seem to restrict movement as there is plenty of leg room but snug around the straps so they can't wriggle out. I have my LO sleep in the cot right next to our bed level with my head as there's no danger of her wriggling under any blankets.

The one thing to check is the tog rating on it. You'll need to make sure its the right tog rating for the temp/time of year etc.

I think they are great and have a few ready to use. Experience has taught me more than one is usually needed

I used them with my son and they really are fantastic. They advise you not to use them from birth though, I think they are 3 months + but not sure why, maybe a temperature thing. We used to swaddle ours when he was a baby as it helps them sleep a bit better feeling secure, they don't like too much room as newborns and flailing legs and arms can easily wake them up. But once they are past that, the sleeping bags are great, I can't recommend them enough. Our son had his from about 3 months till he was 12 months then we went to a big boy duvet like mommy and daddy which he loves now.

Jake started sleeping in a Grobag when he was a couple of months old up until he was one. My little brother slept in a Grobag until he was two and wouldn't go to sleep unless he was in one. I think they are great and so much safer than using blankets. You can get all the info on them from the official Grobag site.

Thanks ladies!

That tog rating is very interesting Sherlock, especially as my LO is due end of August and this being my first!

The one I've bought says 0-6 months so I assume that's from birth?!

(Please say my stupid questions are my hormones... If not, my LO hasn't got a bloody chance lol)

:D xx

NP :) I'm a fan of the sleeping bags as LO's can wriggle about but stay snug and no worry then about blankets and so on.

Chances are in August you'll be fine with something like the 1.0 tog rating. It should still be warm that time of year. If you have the 1.0 it should be ok in winter also so long as its not cold in the room. Recommended nursery temp is 18C IIRC. You can of course then add a blanket or put on a warmer sleepsuit if needed.

We have a few grobags, in the middle tog range for the summer, and then will buy a thicker one for winter if needed. If it gets really hot in the bedroom overnight in summer I'll just use a light blanket rather than buy another sleeping bag.

Sorry to ask a question on your thread Dannii, but does anyone have an opinion on this?

I really like the idea of them. People have raved to me about merino before (to do with hillwalking, sports and adult clothing though) and it sounds perfect but if anyone knows differently I'd love to know now before spending £50 :D

Grobags are fab!

Kalia...there is no way I would ever pay £50 on a grobag  The ones from Matalan and TK Maxx are just as good..they keep your baby just as warm and are just as pretty!

I know.. I got one the other day... also Matalans are fab as well...they're only a tenner too.

I think 50 quid is very expensive..especially when you need a couple. Even if I won the lottery, I wouldnt pay 50 quid on a grobag, not when the others are just as good.

i wouldnt be witout sleeping bags now as jade hates blankets just kicks them off her ive used them ever since i brought her home from hospital as she never liked to be swaddled she hated it so i just used sleeping bags they are so safe :D :D

do u mean a grobag? like a sleeping bag with shoulder straps like a dress at the top? theyre FAB! covers just get kicked off (often over babys face  ) but these keep baby toasty and snug. i love melissa's growbag!

I love Grobags too - I've tried them from a few different places but I think the real Grobags are well the best. They are really secure and long enough for D to kick his legs about inside, and they wash really well too

Try TX Maxx if you have one near you. £15 for real grobags :D
