that looks good but the nearest to me is over an hour away quite like the idea of teaching it though. Matthew loves being sung to and doing movements, we do row row row your boat, the wheels on the bus, the grand old duke of york and his favorite is if your happy and you know it!!

how does row the boat get - B just gets merily merily merily (spl) coz thats all i can remembver lol

the only over nursery ryme i know is twinkle lil star

right sarah ....

Row row row your boat, gently down the stream
merrily merrily merrily life is but a dream or matthew prefers the ending ..
If you see a crocodile dont forget to scream (then i go arghhhh he finds that highly amusing.)

You should get a nursery rhyme cd i think places like woolies do them!

we also have

row, row, row your boat gently to the shore
when you see the lion there don't forget to roar

and

row, row, row your boat gently down the river
if you see a polar bear give a little shiver

rock rock rock the boat gently to and fro
watch out, give a shout
into the water you go (tip baby off your legs)

:)

ahh i like all those might have to use them on matthew he absolutley loves being sung too god knows why i prob sound like a cat wailing!!!

thanks girley will use them on B wen gets up

urchin my grandad does one called ride-a-cock-hourse (how dirty does that sound lol) and its putting B on his leg then like letting him drop off kinda the same as ur row the boat version (obv dont actually drop him)

i sign when i remember to do it, but to be honest when she's screaming for some food i hardly have the patience to make sure she saw what signs i was doing in front of her teary eyes :wall:

it can be good fun though! i'm trying to keep it up. zoe's too young to respond yet, am looking forward to seeing of it works. got same kit as you beany

Hi just thought i'd put a little note - my MIL is a chartered teacher for the deaf, and i was quite interested in doing it with ewan, but she advised not to, as it would inhibit his launguage development, he needs to learn to speak not to sign, she has met afew babies who have done baby signing and they have been behind with their launguage and in some cases use signing in stead of speaking.
You only need to sign if there is hearing impairment. She said it si just one of those baby fads and a bit of a con, to get keen mums to part with their money. our local class is £4 a week! i know i can't justify that! better spent taking him to toddler group, and swimming
Obvioulsy it is up to the individual, but i respect her information, she has been teaching perapatetically for many years.

I do think it is an individual thing. My friend is a speech therapist and she highly recommends this as it helps babies to communicate and she says the majority of children actually talk quicker and better as they are more confident about their communication skills and getting a response from their parent. I would advise that if you are interested in it do a bit of research before hand and decide for yourself.

I'll be interested in doing 3 or 4 signs with Brody, eg drink, hungry etc as I think later they can get really frustrated when they can't tell you what the metter is.
I'd never go to classes though, how are you supposed to explain to them the sign for hungry if they are not hungry? or the sign for nappy if their nappy is clean?

I've just signed up for a course- it runs for about 16 sessions so I thought I'd do it get the ideas and then run with it myself. It's something to do together and he loves singing anyway so I figured why not.

Oh and another verse of row row row the boat is:-

....gently down the creek,
If you see a tiny mouse don't forget to squeak (squeak!)
