Hi all,

I'm looking at baby monitors at the moment, i'm finding this more of a minefield than prams! Do I get a video one? Do I get one with the mat for under the cot? Do I need an expensive one? And so on...ahhh!!!

Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks! :)

I'm totally the same - and the more I look the more confused I feel! All I know is I want a monitor really, the rest I'm clueless about, so any help would be appreciated!

I am swaying towards video because baby will be going straight into her room x

We got a video one that also has sensory mat and I would go crazy without it! Ours is angelcare, really recommend it x

I have an angel care monitor too, It's not a video one but has the motion mat thing but LO is 6months now and I've not used it yet.. think a video will come in handy when his abit more active so I do wish I'd gone for the monitor version! xx

I want a video one and I’ve lost count of the times we’ve looked at them online and in shops and gone yeah that looks good but then are too scared to buy it just incase we find another one...which we never do ahah

I have a v-tech digital sound only monitor. I personally don't feel I need a video monitor, I think I would watch it too much. I clip the sound monitor to my trousers and go and do housework or go out in the garden and I hear her on that as soon as she wakes up. That's all I need and cost me under £20. If you need to see what your baby's up to then get a video one, I bet they get up to all sorts of mischief in their rooms when they are toddlers  suppose it would be good to keep an eye on them!

I’d be lost without our video one now. It’s saves us from running upstairs for every little noise to check on him (3 now!). Just find it extra reassuring being able to see my toddler and eventually my newborn when he sleeps in his own room. I’ve just got a new BT one which I hate though. Sound is much quieter than the old bt one we had and the receiver Isn’t touchscreen. Be aware though, a lot of current ones don’t have the ability to pan which is annoying as once they get more mobile it’s helpful x

We have a movement mat and video one and defo worth it! I still use the mat now and shes 1 in a few days lol it really did help me get sleep when she was tiny rather than being up worrying and watching her breathe all night xxx

Ok so I think I’m gonna get one with a video and mat because I’m a worrier and it sounds like they’re better if you worry! Looking at the Angelcare one! Thank you ladies!

We bought one in the sales after Christmas, my baby is 9 months and we have only just started to need one (mainly so I can shower while he sleeps). We got the vtech safe and sound and so far so good it seems to work well. We didn't need one before as he was always with us.
