We have the angel care sound and movement monitor kiddicare is by far the cheapest

We got the BT 200 which got the best score on which, but we also got given a motion sensor by friends but dont want to use it as been told that it can worry you if the little one rolls off!!

I have heard before that the monitor ones can make you paranoid and babies do sometimes stop breathing for a couple of seconds, which is normal, but can set the monitors off... Only what I have heard though. We are going with the BT digital one x

kerry5a keep an eye out for offers on the bt monitor coz sometimes mothercare has em really cheap, think we got £20 off our one!!

Oh thank you for the tip Mrs N. will keep my eyes peeled :)

I got the fisher price cheapest one does me fine. I have been looking at the video ones but unsure for the next one. At the end of the day you only need to heard the baby crying. As I live in a flat anyway I can hear him when I'm living room if tv is on low as walls thin x

Thanks everyone.

MrsMc I was looking at the one at lunch time. Looks good :)

MrsN I read about this on which too. Am going to see if I can find a bargain one :)

Thanks so much for responses, I really appreciate them, it's so helpful.

I've got the Angelcare sound and movement monitor and although it has given us a couple of false alarms, I would not be without it. It's so reassuring to wake up and just look to see the light blinking to let me know LO's ok.
After the second false alarm we just increased the sensitivity and it's not gone off since. Its complete peace of mind.

Thanks for your reply Roo. It's so hard to pick one.x

It is. I think you need to have a think about what you want your monitor to do. I'm a worrier so the peace of mind the angelcare one gives me is brilliant. Theres always a chance that a movement monitor will go off, especially when baby starts moving around in their cot. Its frightening when it does go off, but personally I prefer to be scared for a minute and have a warning that something mght be wrong than not. xx

Thanks hun. So does it go off if the baby moves?xx

Good tread olive, im so confused on this too, Was thinking of the video ones but not sure if there worth the extra money, those monitor ones sound good though :-) is it jsut a little light on it that tells you everthing is ok?

I have the tommee tippee digital with sensor pad.
I love it! Matthew doesn't have the sensor pad on anymore as he moves around a lot, but when he was first born he suffered apnia attacks and the sensor pad picked these up, turned out he had a chest infection! I would recommend using one!

It goes off if baby stops moving or if the baby moves off the pad. It picks up baby's breathing so if the alarm goes off it can mean that the baby has stopped breathing, but it can also be that it's a false alarm or LO has wriggled right up to the top of the cot and the pad can't detect their movements anymore.

The angelcare one has a light on the nursery unit that flashes with every movement, so if I wake up in the night I just look at the unit and check the light is flashing and I know it's picking up LO's breathing and therefore LO is ok. The parent unit (which we have downstairs at the moment,) beeps with every movement so when LO is upstairs in bed and we are downstairs we know he's ok without having to check on him.

I have got this one:

http://www.boots.com/en/Summer-Infant-Baby-Touch-Monitor_1160394/

Its a video monitor.... expensive but worth every penny!!!! You can see if the baby is ok and move the camera round the room using the monitor, i still use mine for our toddler who is 2!! So we can see if he's trying it on or actually needs us. I believe this is why my son has always been so good at going to bed because when he was younger we'd go to him if he needed us but if we could see he was ok on the monitor and he was just trying it on we could watch him for a few minutes knowing he was ok but without him thinking trying it on had worked. It also has a talk back facility which can be really soothing to babies if they just want to hear your voice or a soothing 'shhhhhhh its ok' without having to disturb them more / wake them up more by going in. You can buy additional cameras for it too and have up to 4 so its handy for the future and a go send for toddlers when they're getting up to mischief! I think you can get it cheaper than this too. Sorry what an essay, anyone would think i was selling them! Hope this helps hun xxxx
