Hi, I'm sure this is probably a common baby thing but wondered if anyone could offer solutions

My 5 week old grunts...all night long. It started about a week ago, she doesn't wake herself up, but I'm struggling to sleep through it. She's a fab baby and only wakes twice for a feed (boob) and nappy change. I've tried moving her legs to see if she needs to poo but that doesn't help. She's never seemed like she has reflux but her mattress is on a slight tilt just in case and after feeds she does a great burp and I hold her until she seems like she's in a deeper sleep

It's probably something she'll grow out of by if anyone has any ideas that'd be great

My DD grunted, nothing wrong with her just what she did. She eventually grew out of it after a couple of months xx

Oh god yes. My little dude did this. He was such a noisy sleeper for at least the first two months. From grunting to groaning to catching his breath in his sleep.. I swear I didn't sleep for the first month because it scared me so much.

I even recorded it and played it for the midwife/HV. Apparently it's normal! As long as she's not waking or appearing to struggle with breathing I wouldn't worry. My kiddo had reflux but I don't know if this contributed to it or not.

And good news is you will get used to it and they will outgrow it as they get a bit bigger!

Yup, mine did this too. Sounded like a goat, we thought!

Apparently it's quite normal and they just grow out of it. Not too helpful, I know!

My friend knows a chiropractor and said this is a common thing with babies who might need a small adjustment. Usually the grunting goes away after 1 treatment. Their little bodies just sometimes go out of alignment during birth.
