He's 12 days old and breaStfeeding has been great but since yesterday evening he just won't latch on to my right boon and gets really frustrated. I've just put a nipple shield on it and he fed no problem so it's just getting him to latch. Any ideas why this has happened and how to fix it? Thanks

My son was similar but in my left. I had to change the portion I fed him in. I started feeding him rugby ball hold and he would fed fine.

Thank you, I tried that and still didn't work :(
I've noticed my nipple has a dent in the areola though, maybe previous bad latching? I don't know how to fix it though

Could you speak to your midwife or a breast feeding spealistist?

I think il give them a call tomorrow. He was starving earlier and I couldn't get him on at all . We we're both crying until hubby managed to find nipple shield again. I'm clearly doing something wrong :(

There are lots of nursing positions you can try, biological nursing is a really good way to get a deep latch.

You could also try a warm bath together, place baby on your tummy, submerged a little & slowly bring him up to your breast, let him find the nipple of his own accord & he should latch by himself. It's kind of like a rebirthing process & works really feel when the latch goes a bit skewiffy.

As others have said try & speak to a professional if you can x x
