Been to the hospital today for an ante natal check up and was told that from a swab done earlier in my pregnancy I was diagnosed as having / being a carrier of B Strep :( ! I've been told it's a common infection think something like 1 in 4 people carry it?? Still seeming everything was going so well it's worrying all the same. The MW was looking to get me on antibiotics but the doctor said it wasn't necessary - I hope this wasn't just a rushed decision, but more of a positive one in that I'm not a high risk case :? ?? Any who the long and short of it is that I'll need to have an antibiotic IV as soon as I go into labour, guess if that's the worst then it ain't that bad.
Anyone else been diagnosed or had any experience with this??

Me too daggers, there is a posting on "Ask a Mum" if you can find it!

Cheers Kat, I know they say it's nothing to worry about but I guess it's natural that you do - I've had a look at the post and feeling a bit better. Also I wonder if this could have anything to do with the abdominal pains we both have (remember from a previous posting?), probably not. By the way I'm going to see a physio on Monday as I still get cramping in my lower abdomin when walking and my back has been causing me problems as well for awhile now. Should they diagnose anything in particular I'll let you know.

Yes I do remember just! My memory is ridiculous, pregnancy brain!

Keep me informed, I had an appointment to see my doctor about it and then got the dates wrong and missed the bloody thing (see pregnancy brain!) and can't get back in to see her until the 5th July so would def be interested to hear what they say about you, good luck! Kat x
