Sorry a small rant :(

My husband is having his family dog putting to sleep on saturday, which has been sort of planned for the last week or so (but nothing set in stone) which i am upset about and feel really bad for him...but i dont 'do' animals being put to sleep, and im not a dog person at all, but said i would be there to support him (obviously)......That was untill today :(

I feel like such a B*@!h for this, but i rang my hospital to book the Labour ward tour that i have been looking forward to since i found out i was pregnant (dont no why - think it will help me with labour etc) only to be told that they are cancelling it and wont be doing it anymore.....except they can get me in for this Saturday...the last ever appt for it!! :(

What do i do...this has caused a massive argument between the 2 of us!
Obviously the answer would be, go and support him....but why do i feel that it is my right to go to this labour ward tour instead, as im the one that has to go through it.....

Please can i have your opinions on this as i feel my hormones are driving me crazy today!!!!!

Is there anyway you can do the labour tour first and then go to the vets? What time is both appointments?xx

Yeah maybe you can do both?

If you are fond of your animals it really is upsetting when you lose them, I cried for days over my cat!! x

I would definitely go with my oh in such situation.

My labour ward tour was interesting, but it wasn't anything that special tbh. The hospital was really busy and we could only see one room and couldn't see the pool. So I can't say it was that useful.

We don't get a labour ward tour at all so I have no idea what it will be like

The tour is at 3pm and the vets is in the morning, but i no he will be too upset to go, plus the hospital is over an hour away from his mums.

I no i should go with him...but i just really wanted to go to this tour.
But i suppose if they are not that interesting then i wont be missing out on much...its more to make me feel a little more settled knowing roughly where i'll be during labour :)

I no, if it was my Cat then i would be extremely upset if he wasnt there for me xx i thought it would be better as a family thing.

shell30984 honestly I don't think you will miss that much :)

I thought we had a labour tour but found out at antenatal yesterday that we don't. TBH I can't imagine it'll involve much. I think you should be there for OH.xx

hmm difficult one.

first of all do the appointments clash? i mean do you really have to choose - and im sure the vets could move the appt if needed so you could go to the hospital? i think its important to be there for your OH. i wanted to go round my labour ward as well but they didnt offer it... but then when i was in labour i didnt really care where i was or what the room looked like, the only thing i cared about was getting on the bed and getting some pain relief!

just remember the dog has been an important part of your husbands life and so you need to be there for him imho, just like he will be there for you when you actually go into labour.

hope this helps

xx

Exactly - this is a family member they are saying goodbye to. He'll need support.

When you lose a beloved pet it takes time to come to terms with.

If the vets appt is in the morning then the visit late afternoon then he may feel strong enough to go.........then again he may not.

We don't get tours down here just a DVD of the labour ward to borrow!!

thanks guys....
i feel like a real unsupportive wife now reading back :(
i didnt mean for it to come across that im that selfish - but this tour does mean a lot to me and i no the dog is an important part of his life.... to be honest we had a massive arguement last night and think it was just something that has built up over time, we have a lot of problems to sort, but hopefully we will be ok!!
