Hi there Ladies,

Has anyone heard that arnica cream is dangerous to use during pregnancy? I tried searching for info on the internet and found a comment saying "homeopathic tablets aren't as dangerous as cream that is a much stronger dose and can cause uterine contractions and spontaneous misscarriage."

I hit the back of my hand on Saturday and over Sat & Sun I put arnica cream on it about 8 times. (It did help the bruise and swelling extremely well!)

All Sat & Sun I had pains, what I thought were stretching pains, but now I've read this, of course I'm really worried. I can't help thinking there is something wrong, so today I'm hoping to get hold of my midwife.

I just wondered whether any of you know anything about this.

BTW, I'm 15 wks.

Thank you!
xx

I always thought that Arnica cream was herbal, so I would have thought that it was ok to use. Best double check babes. xxx

Hi Ladies, thanks!

I spoke to a midwife this morning who was lovely and reassuring. She advised me to go to the doc if I don't want to wait until my 16wk check with m/w next week. They will do an abdominal examination and listen to the baby's heartbeat to reasure me. She said it is a common time to have stretching pains at 15/16 wks.

Hopefully all will be well, and a bit of relief from worrying is looking forward to hearing Bubs' heartbeat at 3.30pm!!

The GP said he hadn't heard of arnica so it can't be very common, where did I get it? Then he said he wasn't trained to listen to a fetal heartbeat and I should see a m/w.

I was so mad, not just with him, but with the m/w I spoke to this morning who said I should see a GP, and the receptionist who wanted to know what was wrong with me before she gave me an appointment for today rather than tomorrow. Do these people not communicate??

So now, I've waisted a day having not got any reasurance or answers, and being typically sensitive and hormonal cried all the way home!
