My girls poop has been a slightly dark yellow to green colour today, however last nappy change was full on green and now I'm panicking.

No change in diet and not on medication. Doesn't feel like her feeding has changed particularly either. I've read it could be down to her not getting enough hind milk? If this is the case, how do I resolve this?

Do I need to contact my HV and panic or can I resolve this myself?

Sorry if I seem melodramatic, this is all new to me and feeling overwhelmed!

She's 1 month old today.

I don't think you need to panic yet :-)
This can happen once in a while, and often it clears by itself.
There are different schools of thought with regards to green pooh (!)... Some say that it's to do with mum eating something that can add colour, such as spinach or other greens.

But the most common reason seems to be, as you say, foremilk/hindmilk imbalance. This occurs if you have oversupply (your boobs are very full between feeds, and baby drinks so much of the foremilk that they don't reach the hindmilk before they're full). If you think this is the case, google block feeding and try to do this for a couple days.

Or because you change them to the other boob before they have truly finished with the first boob. Try to keep baby on the first boob for as long as they will, and if you switch her, make sure you start your next feed with that second boob.

It will most likely clear by itself... A friend of mine's baby had green poo for a week and her pediatrician told her not to worry and not to change anything. True enough, it went by itself.

Of course, as ever, if you're very worried, call your HV....

Back to yellow this morning, but going to try block feeding anyway. I looked it up and it apparently helps with wind too. Worth a try I guess!

Forgot to say thank you!

This is such a great place to go with all my immediate concerns without disrupting the Health Visitor.
