Im really keen on getting one of the video monitors for bubba and was wondering if anyone had used one? What is the quality like? I know they're much more expensive and I havent mentioned wanting one to OH yet as I know what his reaction will be

In theory I should be happy with a normal cheap monitor as Ive been a nanny for 13 years and this is what Ive used in all my jobs with no problems but I just love the idea of being able to see bubba is okay! Also I know from experience that sometimes a cry just means they're settling themselves down but it will be much easier to tell that without going into the room and disturbing them.

I think Im just trying to convince myself now so any pros and cons would be helpful before I tackle the subject with OH!

i never had one of these with my 2 or even a monitor at that :? i never left their side lol

I havent used it yet obviously, but I picked up one at the carboot for £2, and its £160 in argos
I tried it out and it seems great, proper good picture of whoever you aim the camera at and itll definatly keep my mind at rest, and I wont be have to be in there constantly to see if he/she is ok :)
I definatly think go for one.
But have a look on ebay as they go for quite cheap on there and are rather pricey to buy new :)

Wow, what a bargain  Bet you were happy with that!! I'll definitely try looking on e bay and its my birthday before bubba is due so if I drop enough hints someone might buy me one anyway! Ive always been very relaxed about things like this as a nanny but I'll probably be the most overprotective mum ever!

I have one and its great

I really love it :)

Which one do you have just out of interest? There are loads of them and the prices range from not too bad to stupidly expensive!!

My sister has one and it's great. I haven't but it would be lovely to see what he gets up to in there!

Hi hon

yes we've used a video monitor with our little girl since she was born and wouldnt be without it. we'll definitely be using it with our next LO too.

You can get them everywhere now and to be honest they have really come down in price though they are still more expensive than regular monitors. If you don't fancy buying a brand new one try your local NCT nearly new sale or ebay. If you're lucky you might be able to get one off freecycle.

Okay, Im definitely convinced now, Im going to get one. I'll shop around for a good deal but I think they are worth the bit extra that you pay. Thanks everyone!
