I had my first consultant appointment this afternoon and I have to say it was brilliant. I knew I was seeing the consultant because I have high BMI but none of the nurses or doctors made me feel horrible about myself! :)

I am not exactly MASSIVE, 16/18 top and 18 bottom.... but I was a bit worried about today. The nurses explained to me exactly why I was there, and that my pregnancy is still low risk but that they want to monitor weight gain. I didnt think I had gained any weight yet so when the nurse said she wanted me to jump on the scales I was a bit nervous! Turns out... I have lost 3kgs. So I am on track! lol.

Blood pressure was a little higher today, but I think my nerves were something to do with that! Also I am VERY lucky as I am going to get growth scans at both 28 and 34 weeks!!!! We get to see our little boy two mor times at least! Thats 5 in total! YAY

pointless thread really but very happy with it all! Anyone else got this?
xxxx

Hiya, yeah I'm under consultant care 4 both bmi and cos I had a c section last time,im glad Im gettin the consultant care this time cos didn't last time and baby was undetected footlin breech (hence the emergency c section) I'm sure some of this was to do with excess fat on my stomach :/ xx

I am really suprised at that as a 16/18 isn't big especially when your 24 weeks pregnant! Nice to hear they didn't make you feel bad though. I am so consious of weight gain, i have put on 10kgs so far! lol! Will be interesting to see what happens at my 25 week appointment.

My god puds I can't believe you are 24 weeks already! That's gone fast :oooo: glad all is well xx

I have my consultant appointment tomorrow and am a little nervous. Apparently the doctor I have is a total worry wart so it's going to be very interesting when I say I am considering a water birth. Apparently she likes to do extra scans and tests in the later stages so we will see.

Wow yes thats gone mega fast! Hope they make you feel better next time

Glad it went well hun :)

I love my consultant, really trust him so I be at ease everytime I go

I have to see the consultant cos I am epileptic and have got high blood pressure (pre-baby). I do feel like a bit of a fraud cos I am having the easiest pregnancy ever.

Still, I'm not complaining at the extra scans, I've had 6 already! And the extra care and attention :)

yes i am under duel care due to my bmi being high but i have weighed myself and i have lost 6kgs all ready so i hope they are going to be nice like ur consultant pudds xx

Hi ladies

I don't know if i am going to be under consultant care. Got a letter today saying my blood platelets were slightly low (142). They are going to take them again in 4 weeks but i'm guessing they are going to monitor me a bit more closely now. Anyone else had this?

haha that was pre pregnancy hun! Still wearing same trousers but undone with a bump band now! lol.

Glad I am not the only one experiencing this! I know 24 weeks... scary stuff eh! I have my 25 week appt on Friday. Finally got to hear HB today too as they couldnt find it at 16 wk appt (I think do to my insolation!)

Hope all of your appts go well. Let us know! xx

I'm under consultant care as OHs dad had hair lip and cleft pallet and a curved spine.

Had 3 scans with them and all is well. I alternate between midwife based at doctors and the hospital

yeah i'm under consultant care too... can't wait for the extra scans we get ;-) finally a GOOD benefit/reason for some of the extra weight we carry ;-) lol xx

Hey hun, my BMI is 30 so I had the GTT, but I do have not seen the consultant since 12 weeks and wont do so until 12 sept, about 33 weeks!! I have had 2 previous c-sections, so guess it depends where u live xxx
