Baby is 1/5th engaged, so very nearly there. Mum asked if I was aware, but I'm not. I don't waddle, I don't feel like I have a ball between my legs, I don't need to pee any more frequently than normal... Anyone else? Perhaps I'm just totally oblivious to my own body!!!

Last mw app i had baby head was down but not engaged. My belly feels heavier in the last couple of days but i'm peeing all the time anyway.

Been so long since my first i can't remember how it feels lol

Sorry not much help xx

I was 1/5 at my last midwife appointment - I can't tell any difference either apart from a bit of 'pressure' when I'm on the loo! Not waddling though...at least I don't think I am!

I am waddling but not sure if that is my spd but was told head engaged.

I was 3/5 last Monday and couldn't feel it. I was waddling a bit but that was due to spd pain. Last few days though I feel lots of pressure down there and feel like I'm going for loads of wees but only small ones. Also get sharp pains down there too. Defiantly didn't feel it at 1/5 though x

I am 1/5 but my mw means only 1/5 of head is in the pelvis, so barely engaged at all. I definitely weed more since head went there so I'll be a nightmare when it's fully engaged!
We're all different, so don't worry if you don't feel much different. Good news baby is engaged. I wish squiggle was! X

I wish there was a standard way of stating engagement!! I was 3/5 at last appt, 1/5 at this one, mum said she puts down how much of the head she can feel, so 4/5ths are in my pelvis!

I can suck my tummy in now and get a very odd shaped pointy bump bit, I find that hilarious! And have also had a lot of comments about how low my bump now looks.

My book said midwife should be able to make an "educated guess" at when labour may commence now. She said that's a pile of crap and she'll tell me what she tells everyone else - 41 weeks, anything earlier is a bonus, haha xx

My mw does it the opposite way so baby is 4/5 engaged and i can feel it, sometimes when i stand up i feel the head really low and it just feels like its going to fall out lol. Im peeing ridiculous amounts now too. Sick of getting up through the night to wee lol. Xx

My midwife told me on tuesday that his head is definitely engaged but didnt say how much so im taking this as hes fully engaged? Definitely felt it yesterday tho because I was going to the toilet every 10 minutes all day x

My mw told me babys head wont be fully engaged until labour. Have a look in your notes because if its engaged she would put in your notes how much, i.e. 4/5, 1/5 depending on which way she does it. She told me that you can go into labour when the baby is 3/5 engaged (or 2/5 engaged if yours does it the opposite way) sorry if that makes no sense lol. Xx

It is usually written how many 5ths are in the pelvis so if 4/5ths felt above pelvis means that 1/5th is in the pelvis. 4/5-5/5ths in the pelvis means that the baby is almost born or in labour. Therfore if they write 3/ths engaged they are feeling 2/5ths out of the pelvis. Again it is like fundal height measurements and very objective. Depends on size of babys head and the size of mums pelvis. The most reassuring thing for first time mums is once engaged the head isn't going anywhere else but down. Second time mums onwards the head can bob in and out because it has all been stretched before.

My bubba is floating free :/

mummy to ds 11/7/11
pregnant *team pink* due 12/9/13

My midwife said I'm 4/5th cephalic but said the head has just started to go into my pelvis. I definitely need to wee more! So I take it 1/5th is engaged?

Different mw's do different things unfortunately, and if its only a number that's written then there's no way to tell.

I was 4/5 palatable at 35 weeks, which means 4/5ths of head is still out of pelvis - that's same as 1/5 engaged so only just in.

It's also worth remembering that babies can pop in and out if pelvis, especially if only a little in. Some babies can also be engaged, and further Engaged for quite a while - its no real measure of when you will labour.

I'm 2.5 cm dilated and baby is engaged but don't feel much different. just waiting around for him to arrive.

I know it's all still a waiting game, I'm fully expecting it to be another 5 weeks till baby even thinks about making their arrival!!!! You just read all this stuff about how different it should feel, but I don't feel any different - still as much heartburn as before!! I'm probably just not very attuned to my body and how different these things feel :-/

My mw just wrote engaged! But she said she feels well engaged when feeling my tummy :s feel a bit confused! Haha!x

So confusing.

My baby was engaged at last appt and she also asked if I could feel a difference. Well, no not really! I'm a bit worried the baby has changed position for the worse cos I've been finding it much easier to roll over in bed the last two nights.

baby giz born 6th Feb 2011
next one due 12th Aug 2013

I just read on the nhs website that baby being engaged can make it feel more comfortable, you might feel more pressure but can feel 'ok'. So don't panic ladies, it's normal!
