My lo is 11 months and when she stands her feet are both pointing out to the sides....her left is worse than the right and she stands on the arch of her foot which makes her big toe and second toe cross over!:eh:

I know you shouldn't compare, but my other 2 children were standing alone and taking steps at this age.

She has been pulling up to stand since 8 months and I really thought she was gonna be an early walker, but she has no confidence to stand without holding on and will not use a push along walker, she will only take steps when you hold both hands and take her full weight and if you just use your fingers to guide her and get her to step she goes along side ways. Guess it's hard to balance without your feet facing forwards.

Have HV coming on 16th for her 1 year check and to look at her feet/gait etc.

Don't get me wrong she's doing everything as she should and isn't behind with her walking I know, and she can crawl and climb and get around all she wants to right now. She's a happy bubba and doesn't seem worried about it or bothered that she can't start walking etc. :) Just worry that it's gonna cause problems with her learning to walk and shoes etc.

I think some of it is personality as well as skill. Our girl was super strong active and had good coordination so I thought she would walk early but she waited until a year old. Mostly I think she was just cautious, she knew she didnt want to fall over and spent months practicing her walking holding on to stuff. Once she did take her first steps on her own she walked all the way accross the room and was soon running around and rarely fell over or hurt herself. Some babies fall over repeatedly while they are learning and dont seem to care. Interestingly she did have one foot that pointed out (though it sounds like not as much as your LO) and it did hinder her a little when she was first starting out but that seems to have gone away now.

As you say 11 months is perfectly normal not to be walking yet though. We have early walkers in our family. I walked at 8 months. So when LO was 12 months and not walking it seemed like a long time but I've met loads of toddlers that started at about that age or later.

My daughters feet turn inwards and she is 2. She started walking at 12 months. We have had appts regarding her feet and shoes etc and we have to do exercises to turn her feet out and look for shoes with straight soles. The only way it is affecting her is in her walking... She constantly falls over xxx
