Oooh can i jump in on this thread to please? I would like some more info on implants as i am meant to be getting one at some point.

I had mine in for a year and that was a year to long.
Nope it didn't really hurt when it was put in, but i put on 2 stone ( i just looked like a balloon ) when i was only 8stone when i went onto the implant.
And it was months of being on a period, constant bleeding.... in the end i begged to have it taken out.

It was all bad with me, not got a good thing to say about it im afraid.

I had my Implanon in for about a year but then I had it taken out so that I could TTC. The Doctor will numb the area with local aneasetic which stings a bit but it doesn't hurt when they actually put it in. I had no problems with it for ages and I didn't have a period But then for a few months I had constant bleeding. I had it taken out then so I don't know if the bleeding would have calmed down again or not. I am thinking about having another one put in though because I always forget to take my pill I know people who have had the implant and some of them loved it and had no problems and some of them hated and had lots of problems. It might be worth trying it and if you don't get on with it you can always have it taken out.

God i hope not, my oh already feels neglected enough at the mo. Unless it increases it that is, i'm all for that!

No it didn't change my sex drive and no it didn't really hurt to have it taken out. It is the same process as having it put in although it can sometimes take a bit longer and be a bit uncomfortable if they have to dig around a bit to get to the implant. I never really had a bruise but my friend had quite a nasty one after having her implant put in.

i had it in for all of about 3 months and piled the weight on. it didnt hurt putting it in, but the dumb nurse couldnt get it back out again so had to make a big cut in my arm and lift it out so now i have quite a scar.


but i dont react well to depo, pills or coil, so i think im just one of those people that dont suit hormonal contraceptives.

it didnt hurt having it put in but once the local worn off i was in agony for a couple of days i couldnt lift my arm or Oliver on my right arm he was only 5months at the time...had really strange periods on fror 5 days off for 10 onfor 2weeks then off for a week....when i had it taken out it didnt hurt one bit i was expecting it to be like when i had it put in but it was nothing like that!!!

I have one I think that the only side effect that I had was about 2 weeks after it was put in, I bled lightly (like the end of a period) for 2 weeks. Wasn't sure whether it was that or 1st period since having baby as I'm bfing
