I have 5 cats (yes, slightly excessive I know - but we just love them ) ...
well, over the past 3 weeks or so they won't leave me alone...

Usually of an evening I will have 1 or 2 on my lap, whoever gets there first, but for the past few weeks I have 3 on there most of the time (not easy I can assure you - they basically end up lying on top of each other)... wthen I have the other 2 sitting as close as possible to me..

one of my friends said that it is to do with my pregnancy ???

Does anyone knpw anything about this or experienced the same thing

my dads dog wouldnt leave my stepmum alone and would try and lick her belly constantly, think it has something to do with them sensing it

Yep, my cats were very interested with my first. I only had one cat with my second and he sat on my knee a lot till I got too fat then sat on dh's knee.

i have 4 and when i was first pg my female cat went right off me :talkhand: but now she is ok with me again..but they dont seem too bothered...2 of them are kittens mind and would rather play than cuddle and the other 2 will cuddle you in bed but during the day keep themselves to themselves..I think it depends on the cats really :)

Aww I think that's lovely. My cat is the same and he was with my son too. It can be annoying, it's bad enough tripping over one but 5! I think it's really sweet though and shows just how intelligent they are. :)

 hey,I have 9 cats, while I was pregnant it was 10,but I lost my beautiful Peaches with chronic kidney failure

All my cats were interested, but one in particular,Snowdrop, used to curl up on my belly, and even used to climb down my top in bed to be right next to my skin, there she just used to purr constantly.
As you say,it's a competition to see who gets there first,I always used to feel sorry for my old man Misty, because he is such a fat cat and my belly was fat he couldn't fit on and used to slide off! :D

ive not noticed any change in my kitten, but then ive been pregnant the whole time we have had her.

5 isn't excessive - it's a purrrfect number :D I've got 4.

Two of mine where the same when I was pregnant. It was lovely. I think they can sense that your pregnant and want to protecty you.

They've been fab with our baby since he was born. It's lovely to see them react so positively to Isaac. Hopefully, we'll bring up Isaac to love animals as much as we do.

was having this conversation with my dh last night we have two tabbies a boy (tigger) and a girl (muffin) normally muffin would be the one on my lap and tigger would be on my dh lap pretty much every night as they are house cats and never go out but lately tigger wants to be close and muffin even closeri think tey can sense my pregnancy as they both want to be near my belly.

i think they must be able to sense these sorts of things.

My dog has been obsessed with my tummy since I started to show..she curls up with her head on my bump all the time...I am sure she senses something is going on in there!!

Animals are so intelligent!!

Bless xx
