Oh yes.... I started several months ago! We are on a budget and we have (children) 8 nieces and nephews to buy for, 3 other babies/children and then 10 adults (plus any friends we buy for..usually two of my good friends). So that's quite a lot of money. Also, when you add up for b-days as well...... £ £ £ £ £ £ s
I buy stuff in advance for the children and just hope they haven't already got it...sometimes I check with their parents, other than that they get what they are given!
We used to spend £15 per child/person and £20 on our parents (each) but since being on a budget we cut that to £10 each for everyone and OH and I don't really buy each other anything.
I buy stuff from Argos when they have stuff on special offer or Wooly's. Or the Book people are good for books... I just store in spare room/wardrobe.
I used to ask what my nieces/nephews wanted and my SIL would always suggest something very specific (a game/toy) which was alwasy more than we wanted to pay... between 20-30 quid.
So I decided to just buy what I thought they would like. Now that the oldest niece and nephew are at secondary school, we think we'll get them vouchers so they can choose and if they judge us for being tight with only £10, well so be it! I am past embarrassment now..we have to live !!
I am all for getting bargains and saving a bit of £
