As the title says really.

I took yesturday off work as i was in a fair bit of pain and i don't think sitting at a desk would help much. I came back to work today and i am getting pains again and wondered if anyone had been signed of work through SPD?

I only have 6 weeks left at work but if things get any worsse i don't think i will be able to stick it out much longer.

Hi hun

I have had SPD since around 19-20 weeks. Although i never left work early because of it i can sympathise with the pain.
I struggled right to the end of working, found it incredibly hard to sit or stand for any length of time. And getting up and down out of my office chair all day really hurt.

Have you had physio or wear any support belts?
If you think you cant carry on at work dont force yourself as this can make it worse.

I was signed off for the whole of my pregnancy with SPD from week 14. I was on crutches, had the support belt and physio.

My job was pretty active, a senior nursery nurse looking after 3-4year olds so lots of being on my feet and bending etc. Work and i tried to adjust things to see if it would make a difference but every evening I was in absolute agony and unable to move so GP signed me off.

Hope you feel better hun

I had back pain just caused my baby hitting my sciatic nerve and i was signed off from 20 weeks. My job was a half desk job which involved me getting up and down constanlty (i was on a reception desk) and even just sitting at the desk caused me a lot of pain.

If it's really bad and causing you problems then speak to your GP and i'm sure they'll sign you off (if that's what you want/need).

SPD is probably a lot worse than what i was getting! !

I have been signed off with SPD / Sciatica since before Christmas I tried going back to work on and off but I could only manage a few days then the pain would get worse.

I've been referred for Physio and have been given a support belt to wear, I would say don't struggle if you are finding it difficult to work get signed off and take it easy.

I have a support belt and I have excersies from the pragnacy physio (im a physio but not working with pregnant women)

A lot fo the time i am sat at a desk writing up notes but then when the job gets physical (nothin rude ladies!!!!) I really struggle.

I am feeling a bit guitly thinking i need time off but i don't really want to over do it and harm the baby.

A lot of the women i work with are making me feel a littl guitly by saying they all had pain but just got on with it. Got the doctors on the 28th March so might just wait till then. One lady did sympothise with me though adn said SPD was worse than labour so at least i feel i have her support!

Thanks for your replies ladies x

I had three weeks off from weeks 24-27 then the last two weeks before my mat leave started as it was just too much for me.

I was signed off for 2 weks, then struggled back to work and they suggested I should get signed off again so I've been signed off for another 3 weeks. Then I have 2 weeks holiday and then my maternity leave starts.

My work were so lovely!!! They said that the most important thing was the health of me and my baby. I work at a private school and parents will have complained about me not being there so this is extremely supportive of the school.

I worked until I could hardly walk. Today I went out (for 10 minutes) without my support belt and it was almost impossible to walk! I had to keep leaning against things. Don't let it get as bad as I did! Stop work now if you are in any pain because of your work.

I was signed off with SPD / Sciatica for ages...I cant rememebr how long but it was approx a month... possibly more  I just couldnt do the trek & commute to work :(

Dont push yourself to do those last weeks hun if you're in pain as it could make it worse and that will be miserable
