Anybody elses baby hate having a bath?

Hi Ladies,

From day 1 Adam has hated having a bath. He screams and screams and his little chin wobbles cos he is so upset. I don't know why he does this. I make the whole routine as nice as possible for him. Talk to him, warm his clothes and his towels, have the water at 37 degrees etc. I tried him in the bath with me but the exact same thing happened and it was actually more difficult to bath him while I was in cos he was so upset. The whole thing is quite distressing for me and I dread doing it cos I know how upset he will get.

Anybody else had this problem and did your baby get better with time?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated xx xx

I got lots of excellent advice and in the end I didn't bath her for 10 days just top and tallied her and then introduced the bath again and she was a different baby, she's loved it ever since.

It's great to know I am not alone in this and that things will get better. Not bathing Adam for 10 days sounds good to me I'm more then happy to try that. Fingers crossed he forgets how much he hates baths I so want him to enjoy them.

Yup! Only got better when he was abotu 4 months... now he LOVES them. Its a comon problem!

when we bath isaac i hold him over bath wrapped in a towell while hi8as dad washes his hair and he loves that she makes little noises wen he has irt done bless him..
BUT as soon as the towel comes off and his foot touches the water he screams really bad like a little girl lol..

Lydia hated baths with a passion until she was about 2. She loves them now - I can't get her out of them!

Alex has so far always hated baths. Screams bloody blue murder as soon as he gets in it. I'm hoping he'll grow out of it like his sister did.

Gawd yes, Isla has had two baths so far and screamed the bloody house down

Yup, been there, done that, got the t-shirt! I used to find the whole thing so stressful and Layla would scream the house down from the minute her toes touched the water! She was like this up to about 4 months Then one day she just started enjoying them I tried bathing her with my SIL's baby and she really seemed to enjoy that as she was distracted. Now she loves her baths. Don't worry it seems like a common problem and in my limited experience it does seem to eventually get better on its own. Just try and stay as relaxed as possible and do lots of singing to keep LO distracted. I have a little bath mobile which I found very useful too.

Both mine love their bath so not the best person to give advice but have you tried submerging him right up to his chin/ears my bubbas love love loved this and it helped my nephew who hated a lie down bath.

You can buy a tummy tub to do this but the are extortionatley priced, seriously though a bucket will do the job we have a big plant pot on wheels from ikea we bath Es in

Thanks ladies. Liking the idea of a bath mobile, and am going to try the deep bath thing next time to see if that helps . I'm glad to read that I am not alone in this. I thought all babies liked baths as they have been in water for so long so it's good to know that he will grow out of this eventually
