Having a sweep and it leading somewhere even when your cervix wasn’t favourable?

Had one today at 39+5 but she said no dilation or effacement :( Clutching at straws as desperate to avoid induction on Friday, so wondering if anyone has gone into labour after a sweep in my situation? Thanks x

I had one on my due date last time. they didnt comment whether I was favourable or not so Im not sure... but I went into labour that night!

before I had my son I had a sweep at 39 weeks they did manage to do the sweep but it wasnt particularly favourable. I had another one 3 days later and it was more favourable, not totally there though and went into labour on my due date. I was told there is absolutely no way of predicting- you can go from unfavourable to favourable in a matter of hours so you still have hope.....

No experience with that as my 1st sweep I wasn't favourable and nothing happened however fast forward to the day I had LO my cervix was checked at 8:30pm and I was 2cm by midnight I was ready to push so things can change with your cervix so quickly. X

There are loads of things you can try hun, how about inserting evening primrose capsule or sex? X

Thanks ladies this gives me a drop of hope!

Selina we tried sex and it was a disaster with my spd and we didn’t get far.... so romantic!! Might attempt again tonight. I’ll try anything at this point so may send dh for EPO tomorrow! Do you use like a pessary? My friend is bringing me clary sage oil tomorrow x

Yeah you just insert it inside thw vagina as high up to your cervix as you can- it is supposed to soften cervix. Midwife at hypnobirthing suggested it. Clary sage is good too.

We dtd last time I was pregnant on due date but yeah it was unconfy and awkward! Lol.

Nipple tweaking is supposed to help (15 mins on each side). X
