Sorry if this is in the wrong sub forum?

Just wondering how other people have coped with being pregnant and having a cat (or cats)

Amber is a very spoilt (but wonderful) indoor cat. It's still early days for me but I was just wondering how other people with cats have got on with their pregnancies.

No difference really, I've got a cay and 2 dogs and it's only been the past week or so that all 3 have been very soppy and want cuddles, my cat has always like sitting on the bump as I think he secretly likes it when she kicks him lol

my cat was very much his normal overly loving self during my pregnancy :) he would climb onto my lap and then either get on top of my bump or just rest his head on it (depending on how i was sat!) and he's been great with Flynn since we brought him home too :) hope your cat doesn't annoy you during your pregnancy, and wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy x

I have 2 cats and am also a pet sitter. I didn't have any issues with any of my clients cats or one of my own. My other cat however is usually very friendly and loves cuddling up to us and since being pregnant, he has acted strange and became stressed because he could smell the pregnancy hormones that I started producing. After a trip to the vets and some calming liquid he is fine.

Just remember not to empty the cat litter as you could contract Toxoplasmosis. Not really harmful to us but could be to the baby.

Thanks ladies :)

I am a little concerned as Amber is an indoor cat (so I change her litter tray twice a week - with gloves now of course!) so she is queen of the castle so to speak. Plus we don't have a massive place... it's quite a big one bed flat but we won't be moving anytime soon.

This is all hypothetical as I have a very long, long way to go... If we get that far then gradually we'll wean her off sleeping on the bed (I know, I know) and then ger her used to not being in the bedroom at all etc..

My cat is my little sweetheart though, I feel kind of guilty knowing she'll be second best

I have no problems with cat. It's nonsense, that cat can effect your pregnancy.

I have four cats. Their only complaint is that they now get kicked when lying on my belly. My DH does the tray. I am also gonna exclude them from bedrooms where the baby will be. I think that the Hoover will be my friend for the foreseeable future. Other than that business as usual. I think it's just common sense. Also bubs will nor be left unsupervised around them and taught how to treat them as soon as possible.

I have a cat & I too am the one changing the tray - my OH literally cannot do it, he is physically sick when he does & I'm always very careful.

Had cats with my first too & they were fine when baby was born.

:)

As long as you're using gloves and washing your hands carefully then you'll be fine. I've got four of them (one of them is still a kitten) and OH has insisted on changing the litter ever since I got my BPF - fine by me!! Lol maybe now is a good time to start putting her out of your bedroom so she doesnt start crying when the babys here. xx
