Right I am starting to panic a bit now. Bambino is VERY wriggly and while I was 1/5 engaged at 34 weeks I read someones's thread where they said that their baby had un-engaged himself and flipped around. I cannot make my mind up whether she has done this or if I am just being paranoid. I get kicks all over the bump, I am not sure if it is a head or a bony bum that is under my ribs - sometimes if I push then everything moves which makes me think bum and sometimes nothing moves which makes me think head. I have found the heartbeat which is low down which again makes me think she is head down but then with all the movement I am not sure.

What is worrying me more is that I was supposed to have my 36 week midwife appt at home on Tuesday to book me in for my home birth - except that I have had to cancel it as I am going to be in Liverpool for a funeral. I have left several messages to be called back about rebooking but so far nada. I am now REALLY concerned that she is breech and by the time they fit me in for an appointment it will be too late to get her turned and so not only will I NOT be able to have a homebirth but will have a higher chance of having to have a c-section. Which scares the cr*p outta me. The thought of being immobilised and sliced open scares me so much I am nearly crying just thinking about it. I know it would all be fine in reality but, well, I am a bit of a control freak. I like to KNOW what is happening and to plan for things. I am doing everything recommended to try and keep her head down but the fact that I don't KNOW and the fact that I haven't got an appointment for next week is really stressing me out.

So - HELP! Can anyone else tell which position their baby is in? How do you tell?

And I need calming down as well. Think I may go for a walk and get some fresh air. As it has finally stopped raining.

(This is also a product of having too much time on my hands to think about things!!Shoulda worked up to 39 weeks!)

I agree with the Midmiester, i deffo wouldn't google anything that will make you feel worse, try to relax and keep on after the middy do you have her direct number? You should be able to speak to her asap especially if you're having a homebirth or i could be wrong...

Either way get out the house and take your mind off things

xxx

If you've found the heartbeat low down then take heart as thats where it should be when baby is head down :) My LO went head down at 28 weeks and always found the heartbeat low down once he was there.

Methinks maybe your LO could be flipping from right to left, not actually turning up and down. My LO used to turn left to right while head down and the movements from arms, hands and feet would therefore be all over the place.

I used to be able to feel exactly where my LO one and would often go stroke my tummy and feel. Might want to try it.

Lie down, relax and run your hands over your tummy. Hopefully you'll feel your LO's back curved along one side of your tummy or the other. Its quite a long curve you should be able to feel :) Then somewhere near the top of your bump will be the bottom poking out. It can easily be mistaken for a head fwiw. You may even be able to feel feet and the actual shape of them if a foot pokes out. Don't worry if you can't tell what is what as its not something everyone is able to do. Maybe when you see your MW next have her show you where the head is (my MW showed me at 32 weeks and I could feel it clearly down there  ) and from there I could then work out the spine and bottom and feet :)

But really, try not to panic yourself. Chances are your LO is just fine. I found for homebirthing the main thing to focus on when in the final stretch before birth was to keep positive about everything. Don't spend time worrying about the what ifs. You can't do that for a homebirth IMHO. Yes you need to be aware of the reasons why you may not be able to have a homebirth etc, but don't dwell on them or fret about them. For homebirthing I do believe you need a strong mental approach and to keep focus on it. I had no end of headaches with Doctors and so on in the final few weeks but I never wavered or got myself in a tiswas about things, just stayed calm, focused and positive about my home birth. I was confident in myself, my body and my baby. It really is a not only a phsyical thing but a mental thing and you need to stay as composed as you can to get you through.

Pip is a complete wiggle! I get kicked all over the place, when I went to the midwife last though she got me to feel where Pips head was when she found it its all hard and round you just can run your fingers over it thats how I know that shes still floating around up top somewhere. I would ask your midwife if she can mabey let you feel the head on the next appointment If I can find it theres no doubt you will be able too I'm a dunce! She let my OH feel too and he can find her little head too. :)
