I have posted before about zak being really fussy when latching on.sometimes it will take him a good half hour b4 getting settled on, then he will feed well for 10-15 mins then thats it for a good 4 hours if not abit longer. he is definitely satisfied from it. anyway, im going off the point...... iv got the flu.... raging high temp, cough , cold, all the usual, doctor has given me tamiflu cos im still really weak from the birth... anyway, zak is being even fussier than usual and im too exhausted to fight with him so i have been expressing my milk and giving it him in a bottle, now is this ok ?? and have i ruined our chances of getting back on the breast ? i try at every feed but hes just not having it so end up expressing. I figure as long as he is getting my milk it is the best thing for him.and it reduces both zaks stress and mine cos hes getting really upset when trying to feed from me. do u think its just a phase or will this be it now and he wont breastfeed anymore ? any advice appreciated. x

I don't know about the nipple confusion thing as all babies are different, but I would say don't stress too much right now, it won't help you recover if you are worrying and at least he is getting your breastmilk which is giving him the best protection from the horrible flu!!
I'd say wait till you are feeling 100% to go back to breastfeeding if it's a struggle, and you can ask your hv for help or go to a breastfeeding coffee morning if he's still refusing.
Hope you feel better soon hun x

Hiya hope you recover soon..I never had enough milk so I have to top my son with bottle milk in almost every feed. It was hard initially bcz i did not want to stop breast feeding and he was preferring bottle more bcz it was easier for him. I did notice this problem with Avent bottles so i switched to dr brown after which I have noticed he does take milk from my breast first and then takes the bottle..so i will say try the bottles to see which ones he settles into and also take from your breast..

I expressed and gave a bottle early on as Tegan wouldn't latch properly so would feed on and off for hours. i use the Tommee tippee closer to nature bottles she's now ten weeks old and latches on allot better xx
