Liam is a demon at night for bringing up wind.

Any tips. We are known to be trying to wind him up to 40mins :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall:

Have you tried gripe water?

What about putting him over your shoulder and walking up and down the stairs?

Water?

Bath?

Tummy rub?

At night as in, middle of the night?

I found that i can't dream feed Jack cos he is too sleepy to bring his wind up, what usually helps me is bobbing him up and down on my knee and doing circular motions on his back.
He doesn't wake in the night now for a feed so i am glad of that cos it would take me up to an hour!!

Hi Davina
I hope this helps as it has been the most successful way to wind Oscar....
After a feed, I lie him backwards accross my lap and slowly lift him forward to sitting up position. I repeat this a few times and Oscar puts his dad to shame with the burps!! Deffinitely Prize Winnera!!
Hope it helps

I agree this is a winner. Seren tends to burp as soon as I sit her up. Otherwise I gently run my fingers up her back and her head and that makes her burp too.

thanks for the tips. yes we have tried the lying down method. it worked the first couple of times and nothing since.

we will try the stairs thing and running our fingers up his back and head and lastly gripe water.

we even tried to wind him after each ounce but he screamed when we took the bottle out. cant wait for him to start winding himself.

he looks so angelic in his piccies doesnt he

Brody only needs one or 2 mils of gripe water...it says 5 mls on the bottle but that much makes him gag!

stairs always worked with ewan, usually going up
Gripe water is good only need a half dose.
Tried Dentinox colic drops but the smell made him wretch and scream!!
some times he just wouldn't give up his wind so i would just put him down and if i had to pick him up again he woul birp

Actually yeah, i have found that, if i put Jack down for 10 minutes and then pick him up to wind him he burps that way.

If i put him to bed and he had wind he makes a terrible squeeking noise when he breaths or he breaths really fast, like a pant.

Gripe water was taken off the market here a few years ago - apparently because there's gin in it!

Naomi is pretty hard to wind too, Davina, but the up on the shoulder method and walking up and down helps. Also, lately if I put her on her stomach across my knees (only sometimes as her reflux can be a prob) and gently pat her bottom or make circular motions on her back anticlockwise, it helps. She tends to stop crying straight away and either burp loudly or part my hair with wind from the other end!

nope it doesn't. both types i have used (woodwards, which is my favourite, and boots own brand) say on the pack that they are sugar free and do not contain alcohol. woodwards has dill oil in it, so it smells similar to dentinox, but is SOOOO much more effective (for ruben anyway).

i the middle of the night i don't wind ruben unless he seems to be uncomfortable. 9 times out of 10 he goes down without a murmur. i can usually tell if he has wind before i put him down because he goes all whingey and grizzly on me and brings his knees up even if he is still half asleep.

if there's no wind coming up, and no obvious signs of discomfort then he might not have any to bring up.

Gripe water used to have alcohol in it years and years ago, not any more though.

Hi

Did the laying down to sitting position 3 times and then put Liam on my shoulder and rubbed for about 30 secs, and hey presto, the wind came up and he slept from 10.30 to 2.30 then to 5.15, then i got up at 6.25 (to do my charlie brooks work out) and Liam slept with Jon until about 7.45.

Took him swimming for the first time, in the water for about 20 mins and he has had 5 ozs and is asleep now. yay.

:D :D
Great you got the wind out!!
Enjoy the peace and quiet!!

When Damien was smaller he was a absolute bugger to wind, would take an hour and a half to feed and wind him! The way which worked best was feeding him, then holding him under his aarms and lifting him up so his body was dangling and it stretched his legs and tummy out. Do that for 5 seconds then sit him back on your lap. Used to work more often than not with Damo.

hope things improve!

i used to sit there and rub and pat diors back for hrs nothing would come up she wouls be scrunching her body in pain, i then got fed up sat her on my knee and gently bounced her and a huge burp came up, ever since thats what i done and it worked

thats all that would work for rubie when she was tiny
