Hi ladies! Brand new to this, just got my BFP on Thursday 21st Sept :) :) Happy happy happy!! Then excited, then nervous, then a bit scared, then worried, then googling awful stuff online, then sad, then happy again, then worried again, then bonkers and so on and so on etc. etc. etc. = Full on neurosis!! :looped:

Haha. Wondered if anyone had any tips on how to stay chilllllllled during pregnancy, and not panic and overthink every single detail?

Thought it would be good to get some tips from any pros out there. I'm sure we could all do with it :)

So girls, how do you stay relaxed?

Just remember not one pregnancy is the same what one is feeling one might not so try not to worry I know it's hard . Stay away from Google as much of the time you only hear or read the horror stories .
I got my bfp on Friday 22nd come and join the may mummies group as we are all going through this journey together x

Easier said than done lovely! Is this your first? I’m currently pregnant with number 2 and I’ve been so much worse this time round. I think it’s because this pregnancy has been so different from my first and I thought I knew what to expect but I was wrong!

The only thing I can say is try not to think about it too much if you can. It’s the only time i feel anywhere near chilled out!

Congratulations on your pregnancy and here’s to a happy and healthy 9 months :)

Thank you both! This is my first yes so no idea what to expect. Today was a happy day though :) Just felt buzzing all day, excited and enjoyed work. It's hard not to tell anyone about it as well isn't it!!

Claire_Louise9, thanks - FF has got me at June 2nd 2018 at the moment? But I guess I could be a May momma? xx

I feel the same! This is my first, shocked at getting pregnant first time of trying and totally freaking out about every ache and pain, not sure this is healthy, and also don't know how I'm going to cope for 9 months if all goes well!

I'm June 2nd too !

I was much more chilled with my first then I am now x

Princesssaxy! Wheeeey for June babies :) Congratulations! We have been trying for over a year and I still can't quite believe it! I don't think it's sunk in yet. But I have been a little worried tonight as have had some mild cramps. I worry that in real life I'm only cd32 and AF could still come at any moment and that the two BFP tests I took were just a dream! Anyway, that's me getting all neurotic again!

Just need to go back into relax mode :) I'm 5 days late, I've had two BFPs, it's perfectly normal to cramp through 1st trimester (so I've read) and I'm defo preggers! I haven't seen the doc yet though, I think that would help. Have you? xx

no advice lol

I was like you too until I had a private scan to find out the gender. That's when it all calmed down.

So it calmed down after 16 weeks!

Not sunk in for me too! First time trying so very lucky but currently struggling with everything! Any cramp I freak out and then if there's no cramp I freak out as I think something else is wrong! Got a funny feeling that if it all works out then this is gonna be a long old road! I've taken 3 BFPs, but am still going to test again at weekend!
Went to docs on Monday - usually have to wait a while but I said I might be pregnant and I got straight in. He gave me some free info books and antenatal numbers but said not to ring for a few weeks yet :)

Oh brill well I'll be ringing tomorrow for an appointment - Hopefully will get to see the doc later that day all being well. I got my BFP on Thursday and then again on Friday but have been away since then and then back at work. Anyway, day off tomorrow so tomorrow is the day! :)

JustTrying 16 weeks seems like such a looooong way away! But I will hang on in there. I had no idea you could find out the gender so early? Ace!

I think having the doc confirm and reassure will help. I've been doing gentle yoga this evening, farting a lot! ;) and I'm considering taking up knitting to be honest haha. I need to fill my evenings somehow! :) Anyway, yoga and breathing exercises I find really help to relax. A good film to lose yourself in also! xx

With my first pregnancy I did a pregnancy test at least once a day every day until my 12 week Scan! it cost me so much money and I haven’t had that money this time around so I have been really panicky. If you have cramps that worry you do not hesitate to call your early pregnancy unit and they should be able to advise and possibly get you in for a scan if the pains are really bad. And if you’re lucky and have a cramp free pregnancy then there always the option of a private reassurance scan?

I have found over the last week or two that writing really calms my nerves. I have a journal and a blog and it’s just a space for me to get everything out in the open :)

Oh and I’m not sure how different things are for each different NHS locations but here I had to self refer to the booking department and I had an appointment for booking and my 12 week Scan within 2 weeks! Good luck with everything and I hope you manage to calm your nerves soon x

Cossie! That must have been mighty expensive! But if I had the money I would probably be doing the same :) A journal is a good idea :)

Well I phoned the GP today and only managed to get an appointment with the nurse A whole week away! Thursday 5th. So will have to try and be patient. It's interesting how all the literature out there tells you to phone the GP immediately. Seems like they weren't really bothered at my GP surgery :/ Oh well! Was finally able to tell a friend of mine this morning (she has two babbas). It's really nice to be able to share it with someone even though it's so early. I can't imagine not being able to tell anyone at all (besides OH) for 12 weeks! :D Feeling good today! A little irritable but confident that my little bean is strong :) xxxx

Update: Just had a confession text from OH ... He's out with work and couldn't help telling his two besties that we're pregnant! Aha bless him, I should be cross but he's just so excited! awwww xxx

It was soooo expensive! OH wasn’t best pleased!

It’s good you got an appointment! You won’t get much from them. I remember with DS that I went in, told her I was pregnant and she asked if I’d done a test and I told her I’d done about 10. She said that’s fine and the. Proceeded to explain foods I should and shouldn’t eat and to take folic acid. That was it. I came away a bit disappointed. This time I was told to call the midwife unit straight off the bat without seeing dr.

Silver linings - you have an appointment to look forward to where you can tell someone about your pregnancy ;)

Personally wouldn't bother with a GP appointment as they don't do anything. Normal process is to book in with the midwife which normally happens around 8 weeks - but get booked in now. You normally do that via your GP surgery or some operate an online booking system. I'm on number 3 so know the drill! congrats and best of luck to all newly pregnant ladies!
