Hello Everyone

Yes I'm still here and yes i'm still waiting for my AF

 My body was working better when i wasn't TTC  the minute the wedding was over and we were going to get down to TTC by body clock has just seemed to stop altogether. :wall: I've missed the equivilant of 4 periods, been diagnosed with PCOS and now the symptoms are getting worse!

But on the bright side we are paying for a private consultation to speed things up which we are going to on Thursday Morning.

So i was just wondering if anyone could help with a couple of queries i have. I know that not having a period for this long is not good for your body so does anyone know of any drug they can give me to make AF turn up? Does one exsist?

And for the past three weeks i've been getting a constant dull ache on the right hand side of my tummy about and inch below my hip it keeps me up during the night so does anyone know if this is just a symptom of PCOS that i have to live with?

Hope your all well have i missed any BFP while i've been away?

HI freepie

Yes I've been on agnus castus since around CD55 ish i think to see if it helped and i'm still on it now but with no luck - maybe you have to take it from the beginning of a cycle for it to help?

Hi LMP:wave: Sorry she hasn't shown yet. I don't know of any other drugs apart from Agnus Castus. Glad you are seeing someone on Thursday will be thinking of you.

I have too have PCOS. I was diagnosed 5 years ago. I came off the pill due to constant migraines and have really irregular cycles - some were 3 1/2 mths apart.
I was put on metformin which did help make them more regular and they got to every 40 - 60 days. but the Metformin gave me an upset tummy and I came off it.
I lost 4 1.2 stone in weight and my cycles were every 35 days.
There is lots of help available for ladies TCC with PCOS where I live and I was told that we we didnt conceive within 3-5 mths of trying we would be referred to a fertilty clinic, as they already knew I had a problem. I didnt need to be as I fell PG in Feb (sadly ended in M/C) but at least we knew I could get PG. and now I am 19 weeks and due in March. I
The pain is probably down the PCOS too!

Norethisterone.

You have to get it from your doctor. I've just had it for the 2nd time. Last time i had to take it for 21 days. This time was only for 5 days. I finished it wednesday and AF arrived saturday. Thats the only one i know of to induce a bleed.

Oooh forgot to say. I get that ache on my right hand side too, i get it on and off and it can last for weeks depending how long my cycle is. I've learnt from charting that it also happens around the time of ovulation for me. I think with PCOS your body is sometimes trying to ovulate and gearing up for it but for some reason doesn't and i've put it down to that....ovulation pain but my body cant quite summon up enough strength to actually do it!!

It could be something to do with the cysts maybe. Have you had the scan to confirm it yet?

Thanks for the advice ladies.

Yes I had a blood test which showed signs of PCOS then they sent me for a scan and both my ovaries had multiple cysts in them which confirmed it. So then we were referred onto a specialist (which we've speeded up by paying for a private consultation) but i thought my GP, having diagnosed it, would of just been able to presecribe the relevant drugs for me? But obviously not so its just the waiting game now.

Gemma - Congratulation on yur pregnancy its always reasurring to hear of ladies with PCOS getting there long awaited BFP's.

I'm going to ask about the drug to start a bleed i just feel so fed up not ovulating, not bleeding & just hanging around with this annoying pain

Has anyone noticed there symptoms of PCOS get worse the longer there cycles?

I was diagnosed with PCO(S) in June 2006 after some blood tests and an ultrasound. We also decided to go down the private route as we had already been TTC for a year and didn't want to keep waiting. My consultant gave me northisterone to start my first bleed. We were given the option of taking metformin (which regulates your cycles and MAY increase chances of ovulating), or starting on clomid (regulates your cycles and makes you ovulate). We decided on the clomid as it seemed to provide the quicker option for us to conceive. I only needed to take one course of the northisterone as the clomid made my cycles pretty regular after that (28 - 32 days each time). The down side to the clomid was that our consultant told us that it was best not to stay on it for longer than 6 cycles (whereas you can keep taking metformin indefinitely). Thankfully we conceived on our last month of clomid, having doubled to does to 100mg for the last 2 months.

I found this website really useful regarding my PCO - they also have a downloadable info booklet which is really good:

Best of luck

Hi LMP,

I'm with you all the way!
its been over 4 months since i came off the pill, no af! i went to the GP last week amd she said that it was down to the PCOS, i have to go back in 3 months to see if anything has happened, if not shes going to put me on something to regulate my cycle.

Me and DF have decided to put a hold on ttc untill everything is regular...there isnt any reason in stressing about it if nothing is happening is there?

thats why i havent been on here in a while....well  im on here all the time...just not harrasing everbody about my problems!! :D
