Hi Momies,

Hope you and lil ones are all fine. My son is nearing 6 months now. I read that we should be switching baby formula to follow on milk which is for 6+ months..i m worried that as it has more iron my baby mite get constipated..please advise..what are all of u doing..

Thanks..

Zac used to see a dietician and she told me that as long as he has a good weaning diet there is no need to change milk. I did change anyway, just because he was coming off a milk protein free milk so I had to change anyway, he has had no problems with constipation, although I do give him about 50ml of water with every meal xxx

I never changed laceys milk and won't change charley's either. Like zazu said as long as their getting a varied diet, their fine x.

i asked the same question a while back on here and got some great advice from the ladies. my lo is staying on cow&gate hungry until hes ready for cows milk!

my health visitor advised us to stay on the usual milk, no need to swap, its aparently just a marketing tool! But I have noticed some of them are cheaper than the infant milk so Im thinking about swapping, now my baby is 8 months old.

Formula milk pricing is so frustrating as babies can't eat normal food at the end of the day yet the tins of food cannot be reduced or offered as a special offer other than 6 month plus milk...sorry, rant over.
We were considering changing Ollie when he reaches 6 months as from a monetary point of view you can get money off coupons from Cow & Gate which can give a £1 or so off (every little helps so they say)
Also with the 6month milk, the likes of Boots are offering 3 for 2 on all baby items including milks for over 6 months of age which would save a small fortune but not willing to purchase any just yet as concerned he might not like it and we've wasted money.

My HV adviced the same. First milk is for up too 1 year old, then they are ok to have cows milk. Just a marketing thing and to take no notice of it.

I'm thinking of changing too from financial point of view, but don't want to if not the right thing to do? Also concerned lo won't like it and she's on extra hungry too, so not sure it'll satisfy her. Its all really confusing??? x x

i will be changing ameia as she doesnt like to drink her milk now shes eating breakfast lunch and dinner so they only need to drink 7 ozs a day with aptamil follow on so it'll be better for her x

I just bought a large sma 6 months for £10 from asda as it is much cheaper as asda seem to have put sma up in price to £8.62

I couldn't believe it when I saw the price of sma now!! Luckily a tub of milk lasts longer now charley's on solids!

aptamil is 9 quid a tub and amelia used to ue 1 a week but now its 1 for a week and half x
