Hi girls, I've got an acupunture & reflexology session booked for next Tuesday (10th) and I'll be 10dpo on that day as AF due on 14th. Does anyone know if its a wise time in my cycle to get these treatments?

I've been getting reflexology on and off for the past 6 months usually a week or so before ovulation. But this is my first acu session.

I won't be testing until the 14th (if AF doesn't show up) so there's no way to know if I'm preggers or not but don't want to do anything that might jeopardise it. I ov'd on 31st Dec and we dtd that day, twice on the 1st, once on the 2nd and once on the 3rd so I'm hoping we're in with a good chance this month!

I'm on 5dpo today and I'm not much of a symptom spotter but I do feel things going in my tummy, pangs and a kinda twisting feeling, but I could be over-analysing as I tend to do :eh:

And about 20 mins ago I burst out crying at a tv prog about anorexic teens  thought that was a bit weird cos i've not been partically emotional today. It's probably too early for prg symptoms anyway. grrr, i loathe the :2ww:

Hi hun,

I had acupuncture and they treat you depending on where you are in your cycle, so don't worry. For example, if you're in the middle, they'll try and promote ovulation. When I initially went, I went every week and she treated each part of my cycle in stages.

Hope it goes well for you.

xxx

As Olive says they will treat you with the situation you are in. My accupuncturist even says that there are things she can do if I get pregnant to help me not mc this time!!

thanks ladies that's set my mind at ease :)

Before I got a bfp the needles were on my ankles, legs, hands and stomach area. When I had my bfp he put the needle on my head and instead of my stomach.

I was pg at the time I didn't know during acu and fell asleep, the needles hurt coming out..I thought that was odd because I would never fall asleep!

Don't worry the needles wouldn't harm but mention it to them because at least you have peace PF mind for saying & good luck, I might go back to Acu soon xx

Hi Kay Kay

I did accupunture for 4 months and every time I went the treatment went according to where I was in my cycle. She also gave me some drinks to take and tablets leading up to and post ovulation. I really liked going and found it very very relaxing. I only felt the needles going in but it does not hurt and after that you canot feel them at all. I think I had 30 plus needles in me in the sessions. I only stopped because it became very expensive, but I would encourage every women to least try it. Love Gizzy xxxx

Hey! I am also having reflexology at the moment. I find it really relaxing and helps to know I am doing something positive and natural to help.
I was told by my lady that after ovulation everything should be gentle. So she goes gently on my feet and stays away from the ankle area so not to stimulate the uterus. she said that between ovulation and waiting to find out if you are preggers, its a good idea to gently rub your big toe, in the fleshy bit underneath as this is working on the pituitary gland (which stimulates the production of our hormones).
I don't know anything about acupuncture but like the other ladies have said, I think the main thing is that the therapist knows exactly where you are in your cycle.
How long have you been ttc?
x

HEY! Sorry about the late reply. Well, I have been on and off trying to conceive so going through months where I try and then I don't, due to two chemical pregnancies in the last year which was very very disheartening. However, I have has three reflexology sessions in the last couple of months since my m/c and bizarrely, the strong firm session we did on my feet to induce ovulation actually seeemed to work! I ovulated 48 hours later! (I am very irregular with PCOS so this seemed more than just a coincidence!)
I am hoping that with the help of my gynae and with the help of the reflexologist I might be able to ovulate more and also if I get pregnant that it will stick this time!
I have been gently rubbing my big toe since ovulation but avoiding my ankles. I have another session with my lady tomorrow night, so she will most likely to a gentle session then.
Are you getting any help with your ttc from a doctor.
I am now on baby aspirin after ovulation and very high dose folic acid. x x

Hi hun, sorry about your chemicals :-( I'm glad you're finding reflexology so helpful, it's fab that it seems to bring on ovulation. I really like and trust the girl I usually go to but she's expensive - £30 for an hour session. The place I'm going tomorrow was one of those voucher deals (like groupon) and was a bargain at £19 for acu & reflexology, each for an hour. Hoping they're as good.

Yeah we've been to the docs and had all the tests - there's nothing wrong apparently, prob looking at IUI this summer. Unless I get my BFP before that, hey you never know;-) I take evening primrose oil (3 x 1,000mg) up until ovulation and also folic acid every day. What is your baby aspirin for, was that because of your chemical pregnancies? x

Hey!

Oooh tell me about the evening primrose ... what is the idea behind that? Can you fill me in?

The aspirin is, if I understand correctly, to help with the flow of blood to my uterus by discouraging any clots down there, and then also I believe it helps in some women to lower the chance of miscarriage through helping to stop the immune system from rejecting the pregnancy in its early stages. I think. ButI am going to ask my gynae more about this when I see her next week.

Reflexology for me tonight also, hopefully will find that relaxing. Only 5do so i am truly hoping I have a little burying in egg right now! You are 10dpo today arent you, so nearly testing time.

any symptoms right now? x x

EPO is used to increase EWCM. I do produce EWCM but not as much as I did a few years ago, so why not! You cna onyl use it from AF to ovulation though as it can cause uterine contractions.

ahh thanks honey, think I will keep that in mind for my clomid cycles then. x

Oooh this is interesting to hear about reflexology as I had my initial session this week and am going next week pre ovulation. She specialises in fertility and pregnancy and I also have to chart for her, she could even tell from my feet I was just getting over a cold. She had lots of lifestyle ideas too and although it's not proven every woman who saw her last year is pregnant. I'm not getting my hope up though but she thinks my spotting sounds like progesterone (even though bloods were normal) and she can help get ovulation strong an the body into a good state.

Would love to hear how you ladies get on too xx
