Hi

I need some quick advice/opinions.

I have a weakness doun the right side and have a 4 week old baby. I can carry him etc but have difficulty taking him to the car due to stepping over the doorstep (my balance can be poor sometimes). I was thinking of pushing him in a stroller to my car literally 15 steps at a time if that. However, all cheap lightweight strollers say for 6 months and above.

See http://www.mothercare.com/gp/produc...?ie=UTF8&m=A2LBKNDJ2KZUGQ&n=44333031&mcb=core

Do you think it would be ok to use as I wouldn't be using it for hours but literally a minute?

The proper pushchair I have is in the boot of my car and very heavy to lift so I only get it out when needed and the car seat is too heavy for me to lift too.

Thanks

The main issue with those buggies is the lack of head support which is why they suggest 6 months as a guideline. There are buggies that have a full recline (and suitable from birth) which might be a bit of a better idea for your wee one?

what about something like the baby jogger city mini stroller - its not the cheapest option, but its very light and easy to push, and would maybe be more comfortable and secure for your LO even if he is only going to be in it briefly?

if your other pram is big and heavy, i can guarantee that you'll want something lighter and easier for regular use in no time at all, and you'd def get your money's worth from the baby jogger??!

I would recommend a stroller thats suitable from birth too - something like this or the City Mini Jogger (my personal fave). I wouldn't take the risks with not supporting baby's head/neck enough even for such a short period.

Ditto what Valentine said. I'd not put a small baby in something upright. They need to have head control and neck strength before you do that.

Would something like a sling be any good for you? I've not used one so don't know how well they would be if you have weakness on one side.

Hi

I have a sling, which Alban doesn't like but I will practice with that as it is for a few moments so I'm sure he can put up with it. I thought I would put him in the sling, carry him to the car take him out of the sling on the front seat and whizz him to the car seat in the back.

Are slings ok on their backs? I do give extra support with my arms but it looks saggy on his back? I have this sling http://www.ooberbaby.co.uk/infantino-sling-rider-with-breathmesh-605-p.asp

Sarah (Geordie and Bairn has one which is quite upright- she took it to the London Meet. I'm not sure what it was. Maybe PM her?

I have the Mamas and Papa's Ziko Frankie:

It lays completely flat and also sits upright for when bub is a bit older. It's really lightweight too.

It was £85 in the sale in Argos x

Mine was a travel system lovely and cosy for Collier but heavy and bulky to store and public transport was a night mare buses and no go :x
The London meet was the first time id used it and i struggled to get the thing to reline it kept geting stuck :wall: (found out one side had popped out and was making it diffiicult  ) and i was still trying to learn the nack of making it go down
Collier did have neck head control so he was fine :D but i wanted hime more relined i tried to recline him i managed to work it out in the way home from the meet

i didnt chose it a was given it by my sister cant turn down a free pushair even if it a pain

We know have a new much lighter (my other one was heavy and bulky) easier to use pushchair Mclarens cost £99 its briliant and its much easier to recline it and to lift/ carry:D makes getting out and about more on public transport do able :cheer:

i recon , that although you only want to use it now for 10 min , not too far in the future you'll prob want a good stroller for more everyday use / shops etc anyway , so maybe worth getting one better then the one you picture ! i didnt think i would want a stroller , but i hit 4/5 months with my buggy getting increaslying heavy and had to get one ! i got the silvercross pop , its brilliant , paid £70 from ebay .

i tested this one , fairly basic but it was ok , says from 6 months but it does recline , if yours only using it slightly till then i think it would be ok , its similar to them sitting in a bouncer

Thanks :D

My Mum says she has my buggy she used when I was a baby in the loft (ha ha from 1974!) I'll see if that is any good too
