Dylan has done nothing but feed for 3 days and I am assuming it is a growth spurt but I am adjusting to been a single parent and trying to cope with constant feeding and D is miserable as he is hungry all the time.

I will get through tonight as i start his bedtime routine in an hour then he has been still managing to sleep relatively well at night.

what i want advice on is for tomorrow.if he continues the way he is i cannot cope spending the whole day feedin. I am thinking of giving him a bottle of formula to see if that helps him while he goes through this spurt...

what i want to know is does anyone know what is the closest milk to breast milk

Please don't conem me for not managing to completely b/feed him i have managed it for 12 weeks , i don't need to be made to feel bad for not been able to manage exclusive b/feeding at this time

Thanks for any advice though

Hi hun..

i know there is a big age difference in our baby's but bailey is excatly the same, and i feel like im at my wits end with the constant feeding..

I expressed some breast milk and gave him it via bottle to see how that works, and to my delight he went a whole 5 hours before feeding again,

So now i feed through the day and give him a bottle of ebm around 10 pm so i can get some sleep, maybe its worth a shot..

If you cant express to give him, i know sma gold is closer to breast milk than any other formula brand, and dont worry you have done a fab job no one will condeme you hun,

Hope something works for your little man soon

Not condemning you at all  Growth spurts are really hard going, I felt like giving up when Alex was around 15 weeks as he had the most horrendous one that lasted a week. I gave in and topped him up with 4oz of formula and it didn't make the slighest bit of difference to him (all babies are different though), he still just wanted the boob. So now I just try to ride it out. Make sure you're drinking and eating plenty as growth spurts are really demanding on your body, you sound really tired
He will stop feeding like it soon - have you tried taking him for a walk in his pram to see if that helps soothe him? The fresh air will do you good too. His constant feeding is to stimulate you to produce more milk, once your boobs get the message he'll stop feeding as much (until next time arrrghh).

If you do want to top up with formula then try aptimil, it will be easier on his tummy.

Hope you get some good rest tonight and feel more refreshed for tomorrow

I can relate to you right now, as Fin is having another growth spurt. He had one at 3 months and now at 6 months. I am full of cold and so is he due to being run down and feeding every hour-ish. I can only say that I tried formula and it just made him sicky at the time. It didn't fill him up any more.

Well done for exclusively feeding your baby, you have given many benefits to you both already! xxx

he is coming to the end of it I think i gave him 3oz of C&g yesterday and was really really scik we both had to go in the bath so am going to speak to HV on monday about it but he is very tired now so usually a sign it is over.

I am wondering if he is lactose intolerant as i couldn't eat dairy all through my pregnancy ?

is his tummy blowing up at all cloud9

this is one of the signs of this condition, my son had it and couldnt feed off the breast due to the sugars etc in milk.. he had to go on lactose intolarant milk, which absulutly stinks, so beware.. it can be picked up from blood tests so if your still worried mention it to hv when you see her and see what she says..

hope he isnt though and maybe he just doesnt like formula milk...

All the forumula's claim that they are closest to breast milk so I would go with whatever one suits you.

As for him being sick, it might be something as simple as him not being used to feeding from a bottle, it comes out a lot quicker and they tend to gulp more so he could have had lots of air in his tummy. Just see how it goes.

I hope its better soon, growth spurts are tough.

He is fine on breast milk..it is just formula that makes him really sick..He has had a bottle with expressed milk in loads so don't think its the bottle.

Sunshine could you eat dairy when you were pregnant as i couldn't it made me sick and wondered if that was a sign of it?

THx kina...That doesn't sounds like Dylan...I am having prbs with his bowels though it is more like a paste than the seedy stuff it was but he is gaining weight extremely well

glad it isn't lactose intolerence ...wonder what is in the formula that doesn't agree with him

Formula is harder to digest as it's based on cows milk so meant for calves, whereas obviously bm is just for your LO so his tum probably had some trouble with the formula after having purely easy to digest bm.

DS poo is just like curry sauce now :puke: (sorry for tmi!), it stopped being so seedy a couple weeks ago.
