Hi as some of you may know Leorah has had some pooing problems but I now just need to ask Mum's with older babies how many poos a day do your lo's have? Leorah used to have a dirty nappy every time I changed her, which was at least after each feed and then a couple of days ago she had one super-poo, same the next day, one regular poo yesterday and nothing so far today but loads of wind! I have read that as breastfed babies get older they can go days without a poo because the milk is being used to help them grow so not so much to eliminate but does it really happen that quickly? I think she may be having a growth spurt because she is feeding much more than usual the last 24 hours but I can't help but worry after her previous pooing problems!

thanks :)

My LO isn't that much older but last week we were only getting 1 dirty nappy every other day. Though we have had at least one for the last 3 days - and we actually had 2 dirty nappy's today. It also coincided with Ellie needing an extra feed during the night. So I think it must have been a growth spurt.

Thanks Nicky, that's a relief! you have given me loads of good advice recently, thanks

Leorah had a poo this morning, I feel better now

I'm chuffed she's better hun.

Can you ask her to have a word with Charlie. He's not been since Sunday night and I'm dreading it arriving!! :rotfl:

Before I had Ellie, I never thought I would be pleased when a baby had a poo :rotfl:

Amazing isn't.

No problem Skatty, I have had lots of help and advice from this forum, I like to try and return it where I can.

skatty does leorah find it very hard to poo and go bright red in the face? does she go quite a while without pooing sometimes and just staying constipated? just asking cause my neice had and still has the same thing, she is 2 next month and the hospital have only just decided to start doing something else about it, she has got to go under local anasthetic soon so they can take some tissue from her bum and test it for some kind of problem, cant remember the name of it. But if medicine etc dosnt make it better then really push for more care because my poor sister had to wait 12 months for that appointment! with my neice getting this pain for nearly 2 years now! :(

Cassi that's exactly what was happening when she pooed and it would take her up to 2 hours to go  She finally saw a specialist who checked her out and said she had fissures, I think she is finally getting better but will keep an eye on it. Your poor niece, its absolutely terrible that babies and small children have to suffer like this, makes me mad

Tankett, I think Charlie will be doing a power poo!! Leorah did one of these and it was incredible! I'm so glad DH was doing the nappy change, I don't think I could have coped

What is fissures? I will tell my sister about that because she still hasnt been given a reason or a name for ellies problem!!! you may well have solved it...what are they going to do for leorah? do they need to take tissue to test aswell?

cas x

They are little sores up the bum which would have been caused by constipation but I think they happened when she passed the meconium because this caused real problems and then they get worst and worst because she tried too avoid pooing and then would have a super poo that would take 2 hours, very distressing. Here is the whole sorry tale

Apparantley in England they would give some cream to heal them too but not in Denmark!!

I hope your niece has this sorted soon, its outrageous, makes me so mad

I really feel for your LO's with this. I have been suffering from annal fissures myself and they are horrendously painful. I was prescribed a cream. Mine were caused by me straining when I got haemorroids after giving birth (TMI I know).

Skatty, we did an introduction to baby massage yesterday at the postnatal classes and one of the massages we were doing, was designed to releave constipation, help colic and help regulate them, and amazingly about 1hours or so afterwards Ellie did a poo, which really suprised me as she had already done one on the morning. It might be worth trying that. I can attempt to describe it to you if you like.

jakob is having problems now too he usually poos alot after a bottle feed but has been constipated since yesterday poor baby was in agony last night screaming pulling his legs up and going bright red trying to poop i just undid all his gro and nappy and rubbed his tummy and gave him gripe water that settles him down abit
